Neglect & lack of prioritization of the Detroit River's issues is one of the great failures by federal & state agencies and environmental advocates. Here's an update on an issue that's plagued the river for decades. Note the agency language - process over outcomes. planetdetroit.org/2026/09/wyan...

Decades long UMich FB fan and former season ticket holder here. UMich should take the high road and declare WMU the winner. The polls and pundits are treating it as a loss so what does it matter?

A Petulant President, an Unprincipled Governor and Invasive Carp

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer chose practicality over principle by using her access to President Trump. Was it even necessary?

This (fill in expletive) museum of a sort was originally to be on Chicago's lakefront. The non-profit Friends of the Parks filed a lawsuit citing a violation of the public trust doctrine. Meaning, the lakefront is held in trust by the state for the people. www.theguardian.com/culture/2026...

I support the work of the rights of nature groups. But let's not let it be a crutch for continued neglect of Detroit River toxic sediment cleanup. It's been a low priority for state and fed agencies for decades. Props to @planetdetroit.org for reporting. planetdetroit.org/2026/08/detr...

Doing a quick canvas of Great Lakes entities on Trump's Lake Ontario name change. So far, a lot of waffling as in, I'm focused on protecting the lakes. Or agencies dodge the question and send their mission statement. One exception, Great Lakes scientists. "Lake Ontario - Then, Now and Always." Props
