I think the sorry phenomenon of gig-filming is 90 percent about socials, rather than believing you'll ever watch it back. I feel like in the past decade or so we've been reprogrammed bit by bit to believe if we don't share what we're doing with everyone, it almost doesn't count as doing it at all.

honestly I think literally all gigs should do this, sincerely don't understand what people believe they're achieving by not meaningfully watching a gig and instead filming a video they will obviously never watch again, hateful behaviour, get rid

One of the best decisions I ever made was leaving mid KBBQ dinner with friends because another friend got canceled on last minute to see Dolly in box seats at the bowl. He needed someone to meet him right then. Everyone understood. Still the best concert I've ever been to.

There is a vague assumption that “ai is changing everything” based on everyone shoving it in everything and rich people saying it’s the future. This era is going to look very stupid in the future

Also even within articles stating AI is overhyped and a massive bubble people still say stuff like “while I don’t dispute the transformative potential of AI” or “AI will obviously one day change everything” like they’ll be shot without the disclaimer

There’s an aggressively paid for influence op going on right now to defend AI slop as art and protected speech across platforms. AI execs realize they have a problem and don’t wanna get Marie Antoinette’d. The free ChatGPT trip is the tip of the iceberg. First person to nail it down gets a Pulitzer.

Morning people: yep, looks like the ONE nibble is now ghosting. Going to Kevin's apartment today to start cleanout & get the cats, then we're bringing them here. They HAVE to stay closed in our bedroom, so they're safe for now, but one room is NO way to live the rest of their life. Please. SOMEONE.

FRIENDS IN THE NYC AREA: Okay, this is a tough one, but please bear with me. My wife's lifelong friend has stage 4 pancreatic cancer and is desperately seeking a home for his two cats when that time comes. The elder, Wally, is something like 13 years old and DELIGHTFULLY dim. The younger, Doris,

Some people write, paint, make music, bake, bathe a dog, or plant a garden just because they enjoy it. Some people write, paint, make music, bake, bathe a dog, or plant a garden for money, even just as a side gig. Why loud idiots insist that running RPGs can’t also fit this model is just bizarre.

I see the Carousel of TTRPG Discourse has returned to Strong Opinions About Paid DMs, and I would love to get off of this ride. The low-nuance version: people who are skilled and want to leverage that skill into a source of revenue have every right to do so. It isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.

You know what would be wild? If... like... 6 more of you bought Pistolheart it would bring my total sales of Volume 1, across all platforms, to 1000. And if you're #1000, I'll send you a 100% discount code for Volume 3 and the up coming Hope and Fear class pack. heartofdaggers.com/product-over...

My hottest TTRPG take is I think scaling is bad. Especially adventures. Tailor the difficulty/experience and story to the point in the narrative it should take place in. A story for a level 3 party is not going to be the same for a level 10 one. Wildly different scopes of storytelling.

Tom Savini is a fucking legend. And he lost everything. His home. His beloved pets. His life's work - work that served as the foundation of the horror we hold most dear. There isn't the character count to list his legacy here. If you can, please consider donating. www.gofundme.com/f/support-to...

if I see a "buy/read my book" post by someone I know, or by someone I don't know but reposted by someone whose opinion I trust, I will pretty much always reshare it and i think more people should do the same tbh

There's no consensus online regarding what counts as "success" for an RPG. Lots of licensed RPGs do well just from fans of the IP buying them and reading them like in-world encyclopedias. Those games can still be hits without a robust culture of play.
