Fricking US hustle culture.

Huh, interesting. This article briefly mentions the “unauthorized Spanish slaving expeditions against Lipan Apache communities” that occurred in the 1700s. Two of my ancestors were documented as enslaved (a woman and her son); IMO likely as a result of such expeditions. Tbh, I need to learn more.

But everyone needs to be convinced using alt text is socially mandatory. (I sure had to be shown the way as well!) Would you mind reading this🧵 about it and why?
I travel a bit and one thing I've started doing: taking cabs/taxis instead of rideshares. The drivers are paid better and more consistently, the cars are usually comparable, and importantly, the taxis are often cheaper*, especially from the airport. *YMMV, ofc
Utah's national treasures aren't easy to photograph in mid-day sun, with wildfire haze and a cell phone camera but I did my best. Fun to mess with filters too. Breaks my heart to see our national parks and monuments treated so poorly by the current admin.
Without basic research, translational and applied research grind to a halt. We don't know what any given discoveries might be useful for in the future, but that doesn't mean we should limit research to studies that have a clear pathway to applicability.
Got my last session of tundra therapy in before I left Kotzebue today. Tilaaqiaq, aka tundra tea, and berries acquired!
I'd split it up and bring back Reservation Dogs and Rutherford Falls, and the ads during breaks would only be for North of North

Actually, one more - I feel like I should say this directly, so here goes. In the 90s and 00s, the groups I remember pursuing this strategy (hyperpublicize mugshots, Black crime statistics, etc) were Stormfront, the Klan, etc. Now it's the New York Times and the Telegraph. That is the story here.

Plenty to reflect about re: the Arday affair, but I'm going to repeat this one thing. The playbook the right used here is effective even though it's not especially sophisticated, as it relies on the audience to do the dirty work. I am sitting on my parents front steps, listening to the waves, on the third to last morning in Kotzebue for this trip. I am already starting to feel the dread of leaving, so instead I am trying to focus on how close I feel to my ancestors and the waters. I miss this view every day that I am outside
