A multi-contest-winning board game designer in rural Manitoba. I designed Tides (Button Shy), #ExoBase, and #Crownfell which you can buy here: https://www.thegamecrafter.com/games/crownfell More links: https://weheartgames.kit.com/

I'm very fortunate to call Matt a friend and to have had a front-row seat as he's developed this game. It is a passion project in the best possible way: a game that comes from Matt's deep commitment to guiding the next generation of STEM enthusiasts. Definitely worth following for when it launches!

It's been a slow year for me, for a number of reasons, but I managed to get a prototype of this made & played yesterday...! It works! 2-player version of my cyberpunk game run/hack, using cards and dice only. Lots more playtesting and development ahead! 🎲✂️

First playtest; start of game setup. Paper cards are spread across the floor; 8 locations in the middle of the table. A 3x3 action grid to one side, and each player has a hand of Program cards and dice mod cards. There are some red, white, and black dice involved. After the last turn; Player One has hacked through the three layers of ice at Player Two's last remaining location. Ice cards have certain dice configurations on them that are required to hack them; all three ice cards are full of dice. One of the "+/- 1" mod cards is rotated a bit, indicating that it was used during the hack.

Player two is left hanging, with one of P1's locations still holding out.

A "cards and dice only" version of my biggest unpublished game, run/hack, is coalescing in my mind... This will be a two player cyberpunk game with lots of cards and dice. 🎲✂️ (the original game can be found here: weheartgames.itch.io/runhack)

Ways to raise readers: 1. Read to them. A lot. 2. Let them find you reading, as often as possible. 3. Read books they recommend to you. Value their tastes! 4. Let them choose their own books! 5. Yes, audiobooks count. Graphic novels count. 6. Talk to them about the issues of book banning. 7. Read!

Games are a form of art. Travis poured his heart into those 100 copies. No creative should feel obligated to make more of something just because someone else wants it. Boundaries should be respected. And no, I don’t necessarily want more money it it’s going to cost me in other ways.

Back in 2021, I was demeaned by a large content creator because I crowdfunded a game of only 100 physical copies, citing my inexperience, grad school, life, covid, etc. And they questioned my boundaries, across the whole internet. We only have the time given to us. Capitalism has ruined it all.

I see a lot of crowdfunding that ignores both self-creative+physical labor as a cost and your own 24hrs is literally the one thing that you cannot expand, and every single thing that increases friction is going to cost you bad when a KS does beyond expectation, even moderately.

Sen asks if your FLGS has a shelf dedicated to local designers. This doesn't have to be a passive research project. Ask your FLGS to create one. Tell them how highlighting local designers also underlines why you should shop local. Assemble a list of local designers to make it easier for them.

Sen-Foong Lim@senfoonglim.bsky.social · 2w ago

✂️🎲 Designers! Please share your area’s #FLGS - let me know where the storefront is located and tag ‘em / drop their website. Tell me why I should go visit them if I’m in the area. Bonus points if they support local design efforts with a prototype night or featured shelf, etc.

This Winter I'll be teaching an Experimental TTRPG course and I'll be focusing on solo journaling games. If you have a game you think I should read, or you have a game you really love, please plug it and tell me about it. ✨ Also please share widely. I want some non US perspectives.

Every dollar billionaire JK Rowling makes is a dollar she will spend on destroying the lives of trans people - a scapegoating driven by Epstein-class billionaires to distract us from the ultra-rich draining our wealth, killing our planet, sabotaging social cohesion, and destroying dissent.

I've never seen such an effort to censor a document as I have the Amnesty International report on gender critical groups because of JK Rowling. They removed the report from the Wayback Machine and now I got a DMCA strike on my Google Drive for having it. It was deleted and removed from my account.

A screenshot of an email viewed in dark mode with the subject line "Google DMCA Violation." The email from Google informs the recipient that they have received a notification under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) that some of their materials allegedly infringe on copyrights. It explains the removal process, mentions that notice details will be posted on Lumen, warns against repeated violations, and lists one affected Google Drive URL at the bottom

Art tip: don't share everything you draw. Draw things you never intend to show anyone. Your brain needs time to just exist in a state that's not about performing for strangers. This used to be the normal way to exist before social media poisoned us.
