Swanson students were recognized for making 500 birthday bags this year for Food and Friends DC, an organization who provides meals for people facing major health challenges. Thank you, Admirals, for making their clients day feel a little more special.

We've had a lovely Teacher Appreciation Week at Swanson! We are grateful for all of the kind words from our community like these: "Swanson's teachers are the best! My daughter is having a fun and rewarding 6th-grade year, and the teachers are such an integral part of her zest for school."

Ms. Herrera is a dedicated paraprofessional who consistently supports students by advocating for their needs, providing individualized help, and building confidence. She promotes positive behavior and academic growth, making her an invaluable, student-centered member of the instructional team.

Ms. Hutsell is a kind, caring teacher who always supports her students. She willingly helps with assignments, explains concepts clearly, and offers encouragement that builds confidence. Her patience, positivity, and dedication make students feel happy, valued, and successful in their learning.

Remember, Swanson's Course Planning Night is tonight! The Swanson Counseling Department will be presenting information about course options, important information about academic planning and graduation requirements. This presentation is geared toward parents/families.

Ms. Campbell, 7th grade Math teacher, was nominated as an Admirable Admiral for her dedication to helping math students succeed. She is praised for being kind, patient, and supportive. Students appreciate her clear explanations, understanding nature, and willingness to help both in and out of class.

Ms. Cannon, 6th grade History teacher, was nominated as an Admirable Admiral for her kindness, inclusivity, and creative lessons. She builds a welcoming community and teaches with positivity and enthusiasm. Her engaging simulations, guidance, and encouragement make students eager to come to school.

Ms. Walker, chorus teacher, was nominated as an Admirable Admiral for being a joyful, energetic, and kind teacher. She builds confidence, supports students , and creates a positive, encouraging community. Her talent, patience, and genuine care make chorus a place students feel at home.

Mr. Funk, 6th grade English teacher, was nominated as an Admirable Admiral for making English class fun, engaging, and laughter filled. He is calm, kind, and explains concepts clearly. His humor, trustworthiness, and creative strategies help students succeed and truly enjoy learning.

Ms. Ingram, 8th grade Science teacher, was nominated as an Admirable Admiral for being a kind, calm, and supportive teacher. She ensures students feels seen, heard, and cared for by building trust. She checks in, treats students equally, and works hard to help them learn, grow, and feel valued.

Our 8th graders had the wonderful opportunity to participate in a Health Fair this morning on Responding to Drug and Alcohol Related Emergencies. Thank you to Mr. Kniseley, Ms. Bowler, and Ms. Smeenk for coordinating!
