We're Barnardo's👋 We're here to help children and young people feel safer, happier, healthier and more hopeful. When you change a childhood, you change a life.

"For too long, children have been put in harm’s way – left to navigate an online world, and the risks that come with it, alone.” - Lynn Perry, CEO The proposed ban on social media for under-16s aims to change that - and we welcome action that puts children’s safety first.

“We know parents are making major sacrifices to ensure their children can eat as well as possible within their budgets,” said our chief executive Lynn Perry. The latest @foodfoundation.bsky.social #BrokenPlate report shows healthy food is becoming less affordable. brnw.ch/21x3e8E

What young people see shapes what they learn. Today that comes from content, creators and culture. That’s why we worked with 12 young people across the UK to create ‘Call It What It Is’ - highlighting how misogyny and harmful ideas about masculinity shape real-world attitudes.

Children’s mental health is in crisis.🚨 We welcome the announcement a new cross-government strategy, but it must go further. That means: ✅ Early intervention ✅ MHST+ with school counsellors ✅ Clear, measurable targets Without decisive action now, too many young people will be left behind.

"I’ve worked with children and families for nearly 30 years, and in all that time, I don’t think I’ve seen things as tough for parents, especially new parents, as they are today,” said Juliea Morris, one of our Family Services Managers. More via @bigissue.com here: www.bigissue.com/opinion/baby...

'I've worked with children for 30 years. It's never been tougher'

The cost of living is so tough. New parents should be given baby bundles to help their children, writes Barnardo's' Juliea Morris.

Children are being failed online, and the harm is happening every day. “Every day, children as young as six are being exposed to violent, abusive and dangerous content online, with the majority encountering pornographic content before they turn 18," said Lynn Perry, our Chief Executive. (1/3)

"Too many children are growing up exposed to harmful views about men and women that impact their attitudes towards relationships, sex and consent,” said Lynn Perry, our CEO. (1/2)

Poverty is stealing children’s childhoods. Too many are worrying about meals, bills and stress instead of school and play. On behalf of the 550,000 children set to be lifted out of poverty by the new #ChildPovertyStrategy, we welcome the Government’s actions.

We did it! The two-child limit ends in April - a change we fought for, lifting 350,000 children immediately out of poverty. But the job isn’t done. The benefit cap still holds families back. With nearly 1 in 3 children in poverty, the government must go further.

The Chancellor has today announced that the two-child limit on benefit payments will end from April. We’ve been campaigning for this for a long time. It means we’re one step closer to a fairer system that supports all children in need, regardless of how many brothers or sisters they have. (1/4)
