🤯 This is how much space an IDR can occupy. Often hard to picture until you see it. 🤔 Did you expect this? This is my favorite complex, Zincore. Using Cryo-EM, I could only resolve the folded core. Here, I modeled the IDRs with AlphaFold3 and visualized it in Blender using MolecularNodes.

Li et al. identify TMEM141 as a negative regulator of mitochondrial complex I assembly. Under high energy demand, the YME1L1 and AFG3L2 proteases degrade TMEM141, relieving its inhibition of the assembly factor TIMMDC1. This work reveals a mechanism that adapts complex I assembly to OXPHOS demands.
