October 11th - Local Semi-Monthly Comic Show October 24-26th - GalaxyCon St. Louis October 30-31st - SLICE (St. Louis Independent Comics Expo) Pretty cool month to be a comics fan here in STL.

It is wild reading a Superman comic from the ‘50s and seeing panels that look straight out of Love and Rockets. I’ve never heard Xaime talk about Kurt but there’s no way he’s not an influence. Kurt Schaffenberger, Superman #126, “The Two Faces of Superman”

I did pick up ASM 1000, and while I have my critiques, the main story by Kelly and Larraz moved me to tears. As someone who had an extremely close relationship with both my grandmother and my great-aunt, that story felt specifically engineered to fuck me up.

is that movie about the dude getting eaten by a whale based on true events or something, or did someone literally just say "let's make a movie about a dude getting eaten by a whale, that's what the people want"

There's a lot of horny art casually floating around these days, and I finally figured out what--at its core--separates the good from the bad: In good horny art, the characters look like they want to be there. In bad, they look like they're--AT BEST--paid to be there.

I swear there's a scene somewhere in Batman: TAS where characters are in an outdoor pool at Wayne Manor and I cannot for the life of me recall/find what episode. Does that ring any bells for anyone? I can't remember if it's Bruce and a love interest, or Alfred and Maggie or what

Literally the only argument I can think of for BB over The Wire is that The Wire has a kind of shaky final season, but I find even that reasoning pretty sus. Also GOT being as high as it is when nearly half its seasons are as bad as its other half are great is pretty silly, imo.

I watched a video on YouTube within the last couple months about visual design in video games and how stuff like three buildings has us believe in pallet town but twenty buildings can break the illusion. Anyone else see this and remember the creator/the vid itself? I’d love to rewatch it

saw a post informing me that Robert Iler (Tony's son AJ) is now older than James Gandolfini (Tony himself) was in season 1 of The Sopranos, and now I need to learn how to SWAT somebody I guess.

Show's on in the background and I can hear that the couple in the show are watching a movie and talking like crazy. I look over to see that they are not in the privacy of their own home, but in a theater WITH OTHER PEOPLE.

I was 13 years old in 2001, and one of the things I've found most difficult in the 25 years since is remembering what America was like before the towers fell. Because it's never been the same since.

Did end up going to the comic shop today. Batman & Robin by Waid & Samnee. Impossible to go wrong. The Karman Blade 'cause Ian Bertram is a monster. Lois Lanes because they're cheap & fun. M1 'cause Jae Lee. Dr. Strange/Dr. Doom reprint. Mignola. 'Nuff said. TCJ during Kirby's fight w/ Marvel.

For whatever reason, I always get a really strong desire to go to the comic shop on Thursdays, which of course is the day that the owner, who I really like, ISN'T there to visit with. This is a very silly observation, but I needed to share it.
