Just slamming that like button down the timeline. I've liked more stuff tonight than in the last year.
Getting harder to find the doom in all this scrolling
Thanks to my emotional support Canadian, I'll be playing Big Walk tonight rather than pulling out my remaining hair...
Watching Parks and Rec with kid1 and I offer that it presents a view of competent and friendly public service (a nice antidote to current reality)
Finally got new business cards - the last set was printed when I arrived at RIT.
Incidentally, I had a nice breakfast at that gas station one time when I biked along the California coast.
David Roberts@volts.wtf · 2w agoJeez, driving a gas car must suck.
I bought a computer mouse in 2003 and I guess I'll just have it for the rest of my life....

Reconnect Rochester Cycling@roccycling.bsky.social · last yr.We highly recommend reading through Brighton's finalized Multiversity Trail Plan - a vision for an accessible, off-road, and multi-use trail system connecting the campuses of the University of Rochester, RIT, and MCC! 🤩 www.brightonmultiversity.com/_files/ugd/8...
I'm in France for the IEEE Vehicle Power and Propulsion conference, but I stayed an extra week to give a seminar at University of Lille. But bc of the student protests, the university will be closed and I have to give the seminar via zoom (which I could do just add easily from Rochester).
Well, it is finally time to update my professional headshot. After 14 years, the "reverse Dorian Gray" effect was starting to become a bit much. For those potentially concerned: yes, I still have my trademark hat.
Today I learned (from a German friend) that Adidas and Puma were founded by two brothers in the same German town, splitting the population into rival groups, who didn't socialize together, separated by employer loyalty (and a river). share.google/VprS6IunwGBl...

"Grandpa, what was the world like before the death of irony?"
Extremely niche Upstate NY thing: in Parks and Rec S2E11, they go to "Jurrasic Fork" and in the background you can see a bottle of Dinosaur BBQ sauce in the background.
Are there places that routinely post EV charging cost? China? Some parts of Europe?
Eric Hittinger@elephanteating.bsky.social · last mo.Fueling stations that have fast charging should post the cost per kwh, like they do for gasoline. (I also propose that this is a good signal of EVs becoming mainstream)

Anyway, I long for the day when vaccines are not political and I can post my pro-vaccine rants that are broadly ignored. (aka, I liked it before it was cool)
Eric Hittinger@elephanteating.bsky.social · last mo.Here's my conspiracy theory: a decent chunk of anti-vax people are actually just nervous about needles and wouldn't be anti-vax if vaccines were generally available in the form of a mist (or whatever).

What is the appropriate number of water bottles for a family of four?
Preparing a presentation and ready to relate to the youths
Did I just catch a character on The Pitt refer to an MRI machine as "the donut of truth"?
If you are a university student at any level, I want to stress how important it is to take advantage of the events and organizations absolutely to you. You'll never again have such a rich intellectual community just outside your door!
Extremely mundane civic actions are now a form of resistance. (Note: I live in this town) www.wxxinews.org/local-news/2...
