We had a good discussion this week around policy engagement, specifically how we can connect our research on trust and related concepts in IR to future "Calls for Evidence" on multilateralism and the UK's role in a changing international environment.

We had a fascinating discussion this month with @sarahfoxhistory.bsky.social, @vckeating.bsky.social and Nicholas J. Wheeler about the challenges of book writing. Our conversation got away from us, and we ran over, forgetting our usual photo (again!). Never mind, we had a good time.

We had a fascinating discussion this month with @drdavidjwilcox.bsky.social about his work-in-progress with Jonathon Pettifer on unpacking norms and (dis)trustworthiness in the context of peace negotiations. Our discussion got so in-depth that it ran over, and we forgot our usual photo!

We had a great discussion this month on publishing in the context of REF, exploring the opportunities and challenges for trust researchers in IR at this time. We also continued our conversation about developing grant bids, both small and large, individually and collectively.

We had a great catch-up, talking about the challenges of book and article writing, particularly the all-important theory chapters/sections, where balancing and connecting relevant IR and trust scholarship can be difficult. It was great to share experiences, tips and advice.

It was great to start 2026 by catching up with some of our members and hearing about their current and future plans around trust research in international relations. We look forward to catching up with the rest of our network over the coming weeks. Wishing them all the best!

We had a great "problem-solving" session yesterday, talking through several challenges that members are facing with their research on trust (and related concepts), from analyzing interviews to developing grant applications. Great to have a supportive community of researchers!

We had an excellent presentation from, and discussion with, and Nick Wheeler and Chiara Cervasio on their fantastic work with Mark Saunders, where they are developing a model to capture the process from distrust to trust and applying it to the 1998-1999 Lahore Peace Process.

We had a great gathering today, where we touched base on the research the group has been conducting this year and what they have planned for the future. It was good to celebrate successes (publications on the way!) and share frustrations over work-in-progress and grant applications!

We had a great discussion today about future plans for our informal network and how we can develop our collaborative outputs. Great to hear all the emerging ideas and to see the collaborative dynamic we developed since 2020-21 at work! Watch this space.
