You just gotta watch Quinns Quest. This is an absolute treasure on every level. I don't even play TTRPGs. But I think everybody doing something in games should care about what is happening in that space (as Quinns argues!)

Quinns Quest Season 3 drops in November. It'll contain the most ambitious reviews I've ever worked on. FAQ available now on the Patreon! 🪚🟩📺 www.patreon.com/qquest/posts...

reflecting on my video from this time last year about Game Loops - which is still one of the best performing vids on the channel - I have decided to Choose Violence by deliberately misusing a software engineering lingo in a way which 50 year old nerds won't be able to resist correcting

A thing I’ve been noticing a lot recently - a design pattern I’ve seen and liked in a few games - is when a relatively abstract and gamey contrivance makes the game feel more thematic because of the behaviour it produces.

Ted Talk Bias: the tendency for the literature on a subject to bias toward what would be interesting-but-acceptable to the sort of people who watch Ted Talks. The sort of think which is insightful in a slightly whimsical way which never really upsets anyone’s existing understanding of things.

Why do people constantly take “improbable” to mean “impossible”? Shouldn’t and Can’t aren’t the same thing? Like, there are countless reasons you shouldn’t make a multiplayer game as a solo dev. If you choose to anyway you just need to know the reasons and take accountability for it.

The new and improved Live, Laugh, Lerp() design now comes as: - trucker hat - pink tee - pink/white mug - GAMEDEV RELAXATION CANDLE! indie-game-clinic-shop.fourthwall.com/products/liv... I didn't remake the L/L/L() tote bags b/c I don't like the shape of them on this site... but maybe later?

I also had my (okay) brutal metal LUDONARRATIVE DISSONANCE logo v1 redrawn by a much better logo-ist Kai Blackwell who actually does these for a living. You can get it as a tee, a hoodie, or a croptop. Because This Business Supports Goth Girls. indie-game-clinic-shop.fourthwall.com/products/lud...

"LUDONARRATIVE DISSONANCE" Metal Cropped Baby Tee

A brutal-metal style tribute to the most loathesome term in all of games criticism. Designed by band logoist Kai Blackwell.
