9-year-old Meral lost her leg in the attack in Gaza that killed her mum and grandmother. "I miss walking. I miss running," she says. "I want to travel outside Gaza so I can get a leg that helps me walk. "Tell the world I want to live in peace. "I want my life to be normal again."

While the world continues to speak the language of ceasefire, families in Gaza continue to bury their sons and daughters. Since the ceasefire was announced in October 2025, 265 Palestinian children have been killed across Gaza. That is an absurd and devastating figure.
