Fat lady finally singing — AP calls Michigan for Abdul El-Sayed, dealing another blow to the Dem establishment and raising some critical questions: Can lefty Democrats translate grassroots enthusiasm into statewide wins? Does El-Sayed have enough time to consolidate support after a nasty primary?
Josh Marshall: "I think El-Sayed's narrow win is a better result than a 15 point-plus blowout in terms of what's really important for Democrats, which is uniting around the primary winner." talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/about...

"Those constitutional guarantees include the people’s rights to make their own decisions regarding their bodies, health, family formation, and family life-decisions that can include whether to continue a pregnancy—all of which are necessary corollaries to the right of bodily autonomy."
"Because a woman’s right to bodily autonomy (including her right to decide whether to terminate or to continue a pregnancy) is fundamental, the Court concludes, given the overwhelming evidence adduced at trial, that the State’s rationale & legislative schemes" don't "survive constitutional scrutiny"

Lawsuit: "Put simply: 'A state legislature may not create congressional districts independently of requirements imposed by the state constitution with respect to the enactment of laws.'"
Quotes Moore v Harper, where SCOTUS rejected the theory that legislatures have exclusive authority over maps/election rules without oversight from state courts/governor's veto/referendum processes
Lawsuit: "Like the Missouri Constitution, the U.S. Constitution does not prohibit a state from subjecting a redistricting bill to the referendum"
New: Busy night — got a copy of the Politicians Not People lawsuit in response to Missouri SOS Denny Hoskins finding the petition to hold a referendum vote on Republicans' new gerrymander "insufficient." Suit says there are explicit exceptions to the referendum process, and this is not one of them
