We have had a report saying two women walking up to a protest today at BAe Samlesbury were stopped by Lancashire Police and advised to remove their t-shirts that say 'Free Palestine', as it may "breach the proscription order". And so it begins.

Brand new article, in which I examine how arms companies - Thales in particular - try to legitimate themselves through policing discourses, and think about what it means to situate the arms trade as an integral component of global policing. academic.oup.com/isagsq/artic...

Racial Capitalism Must Be Defended: Reading the Arms Trade through Critiques of Policing

It's remarkable how little interest there has been in the legacy media about the police moving from the crack down on Palestine direct action and student encampments that it ignored, now to negotiated, usually very cooperative, A-B demonstrations. This is how state repression spreads.

My friend Linka is housebound, and is trying to raise £ for a wheelchair that would change her life. It's obviously extremely messed up that she has to fundraise for this herself, but such is the UK in 2025. Please give something if you're able x www.gofundme.com/f/help-linka...

Today is my birthday and I’m finally launching my crowdfunder for a wheelchair. I’ve spent 5 years housebound and it’s time for that to change. Anything you can give is appreciated, even if that’s just sharing this tweet with your followers ♿️ #NEISvoid #MutualAid #DisabledSky gofund.me/f7901daa

It is shocking that Turkey’s attacks on the Kurds and the autonomous area of North East Syria are treated as kind of footnote to the Syria story. Be clear: a region of Syria is under major assault; the war is NOT over.

Foreign Secretary in Parliament castigating Assad as a dictator; PM in Saudi Arabia stepping up military relations. Both reported on the same live feeds without a shred of awkwardness or irony.

A lot of ignorance being displayed by the commentariat about North East #Syria (known by the Kurds as 'Rojava'). It is a self-governing, multi-ethnic (not just 'the Kurds'), woman-led democracy. It is extraordinary and must be protected.

How long is too long to wait for the International Studies Association to make a statement on the almost certain return of a travel ban affecting colleagues for our 'global' gathering in Chicago in Feb-March 2025? The deadline to withdraw without penalty is less than a week away. Not a peep AFAICT.
