Sickening to hear the news this morning; the sheer barbarism of the present US government is horrifying. And in this modern age, I fear many of us will, whether we like it or not, end up seeing an execution shared into our feeds. This squalid act will diminish us all.

I think this is also true of events, in general. Try different sorts, because there is a very different feel between something run by a location focussed club and a big mega-event. And I think local clubs are on the up again, after a bit of a millennial slump.

But having said all that, you can and should be able to judge the titles that feel community-centred vs the ones that are exploitative, and choose which ones to support. I will personally always gravitate towards the ones from small grassroot clubs that deserve a celebration.

We once had a trademark dispute related to BLUF. I attempted to mediate in another between two other leather groups. I have heard of some others, before this latest cluster-fuck. Honestly, think carefully about even considering one. It's likely to cost you both goodwill and a ton of money.
