Stories about a handful of scientists get attention, but rather than "brain drain," the likely outcome if the U.S. continues its path is that there will simply be fewer scientists and less science getting done in the world

Fascinating finding that we're speaking less than we used to. 28% reduction in daily spoken words between 2005 and 2019 (~338 fewer words per year). The authors connect this to a rise in loneliness—plausible, but could also be a shift in "language diet." 1/2 journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...
