It sounds terrible. But then, about 90% of the stuff in the west end seems like crap. I’m just an old fart who would sooner see new plays with something to say instead of musicals of films, the same old Coward / Miller / Williams plays and celebrity actor vehicles. #theatre
Rewatched Master and Commander. Hadn’t seen it again since release in 2003. Great film-making. A film for those who liked The Odyssey? Peter Weir’s penultimate film, before retiring (disillusioned apparently). One of the finest directors. I miss film makers of his quality. #FilmSky #PeterWeir

In Pimlico gardens is a statue to William Huskisson who ‘served as MP for Liverpool, but is remembered as the first fatal victim of a railway accident at opening of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway in 1830 which he had been involved in creating.’ 😟 Not sure why he’s sculpted as a Roman senator.

This ‘Clicky Ponting’ story is fascinating. Why would you cheat playing for a local cricket team? Wouldn’t your team mates hold you in contempt? Would you want to be known - in terms of your work and personal standing - as a cheat? I see a film coming! Yorkshire scenery. Sport. Dastardly deeds.
In today’s ‘connections’ ‘dvd player’ is bracketed within ‘outdated technology’. And I suppose it is. Like my cd player, record player and PS disk player. But I’m keeping them all. It’s a war with entertainment tech companies. They want everything digital so they can control and fuck us harder.

Off to La Boheme this evening. A story of young love, bohemians and Paris, which is rather rubbing salt in the wounds. Still, the music is lively enough and a few pre-opera cocktails may get me more in the mood. #opera
