Today is the first of a new 5-part blog series about better government for Wales — and how to deliver change that lasts. Too often, conversations about public services focus only on what government should deliver. But far less attention is paid to how change happens in practice.

Heddiw yw’r gyntaf mewn cyfres flog newydd 5 rhan am lywodraeth well i Gymru — a sut i gyflawni newid sy’n para. Yn rhy aml, mae sgyrsiau am wasanaethau cyhoeddus yn canolbwyntio ar beth ddylai llywodraeth ei ddarparu. Ond mae llawer llai o sylw’n cael ei roi i sut mae newid yn digwydd yn ymarferol

Heddiw, mae Cymru’n pleidleisio. Beth bynnag eich gwleidyddiaeth, ewch allan i bleidleisio yn etholiad y Senedd heddiw. Bydd y penderfyniadau sy’n cael eu gwneud dros y 5 mlynedd nesaf yn siapio ein GIG, ein cynghorau, ein heconomi a’n gwasanaethau cyhoeddus am genhedlaeth.

Today, Wales votes. Whatever your politics, please take the time to vote in the Senedd election. The decisions made over the next 5 years will shape our NHS, councils, economy, infrastructure and public services for a generation.

Here are 3 ways the current system screws Wales. If politicians are not talking about these issues, they are not serious about fixing Wales' problems. The challenges Wales faces are not because of immigrants, they are because the system of funding we have is set up so that we can’t fail to fail.

🧵With the Senedd election just over a week away, we’ve been digging through the manifestos. We’ve put them to the test against the recommendations in our report, "Transforming Public Services for a Modern Wales" — our manual for a 21st-century state.

🧵 Gyda llai nag wythnos a hanner tan etholiad y Senedd, rydym wedi bod yn darllen y maniffestos a’u profi yn erbyn argymhellion ein hadroddiad, Trawsnewid gwasanaethau cyhoeddus ar gyfer Cymru fodern — ein canllaw ar gyfer gwladwriaeth yr 21ain ganrif.

Proud to be part of the National Conversations initiative. We’re currently seeking support to fund a “digital future” bookshelf for every newly elected Member of the Senedd and Scottish Parliament in 2026. If you’d like to learn more or support the initiative: nationalconversations.org

25 years after devolution, it’s time to put digital technology at the heart of political debate in Wales and Scotland. Transform Wales is part of the National Conversations initiative, bringing people together to open that discussion.

25 mlynedd ar ôl datganoli, mae’n bryd rhoi technoleg ddigidol wrth galon y drafodaeth wleidyddol yng Nghymru a’r Alban. Mae Trawsnewid Cymru yn rhan o fenter National Conversations, gan ddod â phobl at ei gilydd i agor y drafodaeth honno.

Cenhadaethau, nid prosiectau. 🚀 Wythnos diwethaf buom yn trafod y “trap allbynnau” – y ffocws ar gyflawni pethau, ond yr anhawster i symud y nodwydd ar y pethau sy’n gwneud gwahaniaeth i fywydau pobl. Canlyniadau fel disgwyliad oes iach, ac economi sy’n tyfu. (1/5)

Gweithgaredd yw apwyntiad. Y canlyniad yw bywyd iachach. Os ydym o ddifrif am hinsawdd neu iechyd, rhaid inni roi’r gorau i gyfrif gwariant a dechrau mesur effaith wirioneddol. Pam mae'r "model prosiect" wedi torri: transform.wales/cy/blog/2026... #Cymru #SectorCyhoeddus #Arloesi (2/2)

Having to send out letters for hospital appointments even when you are standing there in front of them in reception making the appointment and adding it to your calendar in real time. (This isn’t universal, I know) And then getting two identical letters in the post - but that’s another story!

The first chapter on "a better government" is v. interesting... "people centred", "open and transparent", "measurable outcomes", "test and learn" Political parties don't often focus on ways of working/culture in government.
