My record since qutting a job in a suburban office for a job 1 mile away and buying a bike is 5 weeks without getting in my car.
Laura G Mitchell@lauragmitchell.com · 3w agoWe got our first e cargo bike to replace our second car. Now we use our bikes so often that our remaining car sits, sometimes for entire weeks at a time. This is for a family of 4 with 2 young kids. We go places every day. We rarely need to go by car.

A reminder that Alcohol is a carcinogen and the US alcohol lobby got the CDC to remove reccomended drinking limits of 1 drink a day for women and 2 for men from dietary guidelines. Along wtih this, the CDC buried a scientific study proving 1 drink a day inflates cancer risk. Buy a bike instead.

I got sent to an AI course at St Thomas and the consensus there was that datacenters shouldn't be put in suburbs/rural areas, they should be put in downtowns "where nobody wants to be". It's going to be impossible to make any changes in this country without a Thanos level event.

I bought my first bike in America at the 2025 ReUse sale after not biking for 8 years since leaving England. Since then, I have lost nearly 25 lbs, been hit by a car, had one bike stolen and as of Tuesday now own an e-bike!
