Just put 'For Your Eyes Only' (1981 dir. John Glen) on, and had forgotten how annoying the multiple use of the Stuka siren is in this film.
#NowPlaying Austin 1973 by Frank Zappa. A great quality radio broadcast of a gig to promote Over-Nite Sensation, which features not a single song from that album.
Just remembered the new William D Drake album is on its way
#NowPlaying Main Street by Roy Wood and Wizzard. The long lost third album from 1976 which appeared 24 years later.
Sad to see that Eva Marie Saint died yesterday, but she certainly had a good innings.
#NowPlaying Red Queen to Gryphon Three by Gryphon. An album that is always rockier than I'm expecting.
Congrats to Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin, World Rally Champions 🏴
#NowPlaying Temple Of Transparent Balls by The Black Dog. This CD was sent to me freebie in 1994 by Wayne Archbold, the boss of General Production Recordings. He sent quite a lot of CDs and LPs, kindly, after something extraordinsry happened...
#NowPlaying Phallus Dei, the first and best album by Amon Düül II. This cover art isn't as good as the Sunset reissue, but the music is so Gothic!
Just found this tape of a gig I was at, with nothing to play it on...
#NowPlaying Peradam by Soundwalk Collective with Patti Smith, featuring Anoushka Shankar, Tenzin Choegyal and Charlotte Gainsbourg. Inspired by a 1940s novel by René Daumal 'Mount Analogue: A Novel of Symbolically Authentic Non-Euclidean Adventures in Mountain Climbing'. Interesting.
The cover of Blast by Centrozoon is a real beast to photograph. Even out of the jewel case, it reflects every nanosqueak of light.
#NowPlaying Past Present & Future by Brainticket. This is rather trippy and probably their second best album. Recommended.
1991 Kraftwerk Sheffield City Hall. Finished 10:15 Taxi to Midland station, HST immediately to Leeds, Taxi to Headingley, back home 52 mins following the encore. Just remembered that.
#NowPlaying MOI by Faust (curated by Jean-Hervé Péron). One of the four Faust solo albums released yesterday. A band that changed my life and, for all of us that were at The Garage that night, nearly caused a mass asphyxiation.
Thanks to Ashley for reminding me to listen to LSD by Cardiacs. If ever an album could be dubbed a labour of love, it's this.
When I was young, Man's 'Live At The Padgett Rooms, Penarth' was one of those rarities you just never saw for sale. But the CD has twice the music, so it all turned out nicely in the end #NowPlaying
#NowPlaying Symphonies 2 & 3 and Cello Concerto by John McCabe. Performed by Raphael Wollfisch (cello), BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra - Kenneth Woods (conductor). A cracking recommendation by Dancing Monk, thank you.
#NowPlaying Waka / Wazoo by Frank Zappa. Of all the expanded edition boxlets that have plopped out in the last few years, I like this the most.
