If I do nothing else, I'd like to raise other voices higher than my own. TTRPG creative / writer and designer. No AI.

Someone dared to comment on a video of Tony Weaver Jr.'s saying that comics are not educational. Well, me and my issue of 1993s Daredevil vs Vapora (the gasoline vapor monster) explaining the dangers of gasoline and to not touch gas cans in the garage politely disagree. Comics are educational.

"How did you become funny?" "Deeply traumatic childhood experiences that required humor to cope with my circumstances." "Oh..." "We also watched a lot of stand up specials." "See, that's the socially acceptable answer." "But not the most correct one."

If I survive the sprint now at my day job I need to commit to getting a table of 4 nerds who wanna playtest my crunchy ttrpgs I have written for like... 6 sessions or so. Based in what I am learning about the insanity of our workload, this means it would start some time in 2027. 😮‍💨

I was followed by 3 AI tech news / blogs in the lasr 48 hours. One was a conservative centered media thing. Gross. Blocked all three of them. FWIW, AI is most commonly made with stolen art and nothing that comes from that foundation can be considered ethical.

America needs to adopt EU-like regulations when a company does layoffs. I've survived 3 in the last 3 years at my work and honestly, the stress of it eats at you. The people impacted? Many take years to financially recover because of tech fields throwing out good people for bad AI kills jobs.

You know, boolean searches used to be an effective means to find primary sources or at least secondary sources which referenced in a citations page a reliable primary source. I miss research being viable online and not immediately feeding me what Reddit said last. 🤢

I had a talk with my dad and stepdad about being 40, worried over the state of the world, and not knowing if my career of the last decade was going to still be here next year. It's hard to be that vulberable. I feel better, though. Sometimes the brave thing is to admit when you're scared.

If you can afford to, have the time, and the inclination, a form of self care I highly recommend is cooking yourself a comfort meal. Something that just takes you to a good place. I did not do that. I made pizza. My comfort meal takes a crock pot and like 8 hours. And is really a winter meal.

A simple home made cheese and pepperoni pizza, sitting on top of an oven in a pan much larger than it ended up being. It isn't pretty, but it was tasty.

I have been burnt out from work and not done much for my creative / fun side other than casual video gaming in months. Work's averaging 55-65 hours a week, lately. I'm putting this out there in a "I want to do more, but I have so little left of me" statement, just to explain why you see less design.

Death had a point with "Humans need fantasy to be human." Or, rather if I am more accurately quoting HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN because in the text Death spoke in all caps without quotes. Sir Terry Pratchett knew what made us most human. I need to tell more stories.

... I might revive the indie ttrpg game I used to run for poops and giggles back in high school and actually trying to mechanize it instead of winging it. It's something I just kind of came up with, but that could be fun.
