Someone dared to comment on a video of Tony Weaver Jr.'s saying that comics are not educational. Well, me and my issue of 1993s Daredevil vs Vapora (the gasoline vapor monster) explaining the dangers of gasoline and to not touch gas cans in the garage politely disagree. Comics are educational.

If I do nothing else, I'd like to raise other voices higher than my own. TTRPG creative / writer and designer. No AI.
It is always worth it to support any charity event Jes is leading. They do great work in the nerd space to support community.
The Games for Scholarships Charity Bundle has officially LAUNCHED! There are 324 games to discover for a $10+ donation to Games for Change! Purchase the bundle here: itch.io/b/3847/games...
There are little magical moments when I remember the band The Mechanisms were a thing and their songs are still on streaming and would be great background setting to write a Treasure Planet inspired one-shot to.
The #FFTCG might have gotten me back into the Trading Card Lifestyle. We shall see. I hosted a draft for my game group. Turned out pretty fun.
Oh hey, I wrote one of those!
You ever think about the CD player that got you through the summer your best friend was going to move away? Do you want to be haunted by the last words of a character you lost? I'm bringing The Things That Keep Us (by me) & Last Words Are Never Enough by @bairdlytrying.games together: In the End
"How did you become funny?" "Deeply traumatic childhood experiences that required humor to cope with my circumstances." "Oh..." "We also watched a lot of stand up specials." "See, that's the socially acceptable answer." "But not the most correct one."
If I survive the sprint now at my day job I need to commit to getting a table of 4 nerds who wanna playtest my crunchy ttrpgs I have written for like... 6 sessions or so. Based in what I am learning about the insanity of our workload, this means it would start some time in 2027. 😮💨
I was followed by 3 AI tech news / blogs in the lasr 48 hours. One was a conservative centered media thing. Gross. Blocked all three of them. FWIW, AI is most commonly made with stolen art and nothing that comes from that foundation can be considered ethical.
America needs to adopt EU-like regulations when a company does layoffs. I've survived 3 in the last 3 years at my work and honestly, the stress of it eats at you. The people impacted? Many take years to financially recover because of tech fields throwing out good people for bad AI kills jobs.
Sadie and I are watching the new Game Changer episode. Kaylin did a phenomental job and should absolutely be on more episodes. That had to be difficult but what a great job rolling with the prompts.
You know, boolean searches used to be an effective means to find primary sources or at least secondary sources which referenced in a citations page a reliable primary source. I miss research being viable online and not immediately feeding me what Reddit said last. 🤢
Let Karen's insight and experience guide you to better role-playing, more interesting choices, and more fun at your table!
Hey there's still time to buy my book at GenCon. There's still time. Buy my book. #buymybook
Just putting it out there that my friend and frequent collaborator @echoofjustice.bsky.social makes amazing art and I highly recommend checking their stuff out if you want hand made character art that does not use AI in the process. I'd first commissioned them before AI could even steal art.
Listening to my kid and my dad making up stories and rolling the farkle dice and it takes me back to our road trip story games when I was a kid I was always going to end up here 🥹
I had a talk with my dad and stepdad about being 40, worried over the state of the world, and not knowing if my career of the last decade was going to still be here next year. It's hard to be that vulberable. I feel better, though. Sometimes the brave thing is to admit when you're scared.
My house cat is the exact opposite of the Dungeon Crawler Carl AI. Put your feet anywhere near him and gods help you. You might need stitches. Walking around barefoot is tempting fate.
Heat Dome is officially over for the week. Which is good because half of today I was basically useless from it. I don't believe it is reasonable to be expected to think when it's nearly 40°c (102°f) and humid.
"You can't just casually bring up MPREG when we're talking about the Tooth Fairy" -my spouse @oakleafinsignia.games
I have paused the reading of #Daggerheart: Hope and Fear with my spouse to explain a pun via music video. I regret nothing. It was a Bon Jovi reference. They recognized it by the chorus, all is right in the universe.
If you can afford to, have the time, and the inclination, a form of self care I highly recommend is cooking yourself a comfort meal. Something that just takes you to a good place. I did not do that. I made pizza. My comfort meal takes a crock pot and like 8 hours. And is really a winter meal.
Why yes, 30 minutes to midnight during a heat dome is in fact the perfect tine to bake 3 large homemade pizzas so you have leftovers to regeat throughout the weather
I have been burnt out from work and not done much for my creative / fun side other than casual video gaming in months. Work's averaging 55-65 hours a week, lately. I'm putting this out there in a "I want to do more, but I have so little left of me" statement, just to explain why you see less design.
Badly promote your ttrpg: *Slaps the hood* you can fit so many spreadsheets into this game.
Badly promote your ttrpg: So uhhhh, do you like gambling?
Death had a point with "Humans need fantasy to be human." Or, rather if I am more accurately quoting HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN because in the text Death spoke in all caps without quotes. Sir Terry Pratchett knew what made us most human. I need to tell more stories.
... I might revive the indie ttrpg game I used to run for poops and giggles back in high school and actually trying to mechanize it instead of winging it. It's something I just kind of came up with, but that could be fun.
I hope all my friends haveba safe and enjoyable GenCon! Please please please wear a mask in enclosed spaces and be careful. Far too many risk factors to go without at a con anymore.
My room temp and correct take on tipping is that if you make a comfortable living you tip servers always and you tip them well because who the fuck do you think you are
Wildly excited that my spouse's book is available online. This was such a joy to watch the labor of love in making a game, start to finish.
This just in! Fortune Favors Dice is live on @ipr.bsky.social !!! www.indiepressrevolution.com/xcart/Fortun...
As expected, the album of The Few and The Cursed is absolutely up Sadie's alley. Totally worth the wait, what a great job done by the musicians and artists. If you have never seen it #TheFewAndTheCursed is an incredible indie comic and has some great dark and gritty lore.
Ever have a moment when you realize you need whimsy? Just, a lot of whimsy? Things have gotten to be a little too much for a lot too long. How do you create whimsy, folks?
