My Ardent Love for the Pencil, a poetry collection by Vi Khi Nao — Malarkey
September 2025 My Ardent Love for the Pencil moves like a sloth in silk: slowly, precisely, gorgeously. What is it to exist in such a way that life, love, and literature are linked so tightly...

Finished my read through and time to enter the initial edits before the massive reordering happens. It feels good to be excited about a creative project again. I don't think I've edited any previous MS as extensively and I really hope it ends up being something awesome.
So in my editing of my HULK erasure MS, it's actually becoming something more than just erasures of the novelization of Ang Lee's HULK? So now I'm like, do I need one for every page? Should I cut some? Reorder them? Why was I holding myself to including all of them in order???
I love how one of my jobs that is beginning to use AI in the production process told us, in the same breath, that they are using AI to SAVE jobs but also if it takes us 8 hours to do a task (we're paid hourly) and AI 8 minutes, it doesn't make financial sense to have us do it.
I'm a little late, but if anyone wants to add my book (2017) or my chapbook (2023) to their #SealeyChallenge list, I have a lot of copies of one and a few of the latter. $12 each (covers shipping). Just message me! I'll mail them out as soon as I can!
After a wonderful beach trip and family visit, I now have to contend with a terrifying backlog of work emails. On a Saturday because I don't have good boundaries. I want to be back on a beach.

Bless my wife for seeing a shirt that said “Pop-Pop” and thinking it was a Community reference and not a nickname for a grandpa.

My NJ born and raised self somehow hasn’t been to the beach in over 10 years. We’re fixing that.
And yes, it's very fitting that a MS made from the HULK is transforming.

Working on new website copy for @postcardlit.bsky.social because I'm making some big ch-ch-changes to how it's delivered...
Of all the movies to be excited about this year, I'm probably most excited about this.
Watch the final trailer for Coyote vs ACME, in theaters August 28.
A few months ago I moved my office around. Being older and somewhat smarter now, I knew I didn’t have it in me to keep moving stuff till I figured it out so instead I measured everything and made scale cutouts to play with. My wife found this hilarious.
Can anyone recommend the Charlie Kaufman novel? It sounds interesting and I love his movies, but the size of it makes me think because of his fame an editor was maybe afraid to be honest…

We also made graham crackers this weekend. We did not make chocolate.
We’ve been baking something new every month so this month Lindsay wanted to make marshmallows and that’s what we did (not really baking but we are gonna make graham crackers too):

I should have been keeping a list of all the weird, silly, and batshit stuff I see as a vanity press interior designer...

Editing an erasure is fun because now you have an erasure of an erasure.
I’ve had a lot of trouble titling the Hulk erasure MS, but as I’m finally editing the whole thing (planning to publish it myself) I found a line that would be an amazing title and I’m legit giddy about it.
