Halfway through this album... there's something about it that's very soothing.

This AM at red light that has a ped-activated crossing signal. You can turn on red but that signal causes a no turn on red flashing sign to appear. There’s a guy waiting so I know that sign is going to flash - and it does in 5 secs. In that time driver behind me LAID ON THE HORN. And what’s more-
One nice thing about 70s deodorant commercials is they never showed people going full armpit to like actually roll it on.
All the comics workshopping their best Kilmer riffs right now
Nothing like getting in 90 minutes late at 1:30 AM and the jetbridge is broken …
There’s a woman sitting next to me in first class taking selfies in a very conspicuous and specific way (and she’s already put in a request for sparking wine) and I *think* I might actually be sitting next to Zoosha.
At ORD. One Boston flight is 2.5 hrs late, the next is 1.5 hrs late, they’re both departing 9:59 pm. One at H11A, the other at H11B. This should be interesting.
Walked around Lincoln Square, where I lived 37 years ago, and haven’t been back since. What a trip! I had like zeeeero money then so I didn’t go much anywhere other than the dilapidated Davis theatre, where tickets were $1 or $2. Biked everywhere!
Wow, I got my American Airlines frequent flyer card (as they were called in the day) 35 years ago.
Friday night did a show in Philly and Saturday in Baltimore co-led a workshop and did two shows. So of course now instead of going home directly, I’m going by way of Chicago so I can go to a retirement party for 3 hours.
Late this afternoon! Live in Baltimore!
People of Philadelphia & Baltimore: this Friday 9pm I'm performing at the Yo! Adrienne festival in Sad Trombone (w/ @ralphalpha.bsky.social ) in Philly and Saturday 4:30 at the Baltimore Improv Festival in Sad Trombone and Big Bang. Ralph & I are also teaching a workshop in Baltimore at 2PM Sat.
At 30th St station in Philly - where the years long renovation is almost complete except for this corner where you can see decades of grime - probably from the days of indoor smoking

Having grown up in MI, the Interlochen news is gutting - I was sexually assaulted as a minor in the 80s when I was a summer-stock apprentice - and it’s maddening just how deeply and pervasively this rot is baked into in the arts.
“AI-identification tools” that think my writing is AI-written can fuck right off into the sun. (Actually, AIs will probably not employ the Gen-x comma (that is, the word “fuck”) as often as I fucking do, so the jokes on them!)
Authors and journalists are doing more first-person (hello 2010s blogging) and embracing "mistakes" in writing to prove they're not chatbots. There's even an “anti-Grammarly" app that leaves in typos and signs off "sent from my iPhone" to create more authenticity: www.wired.com/story/more-t...
I lived here 7 years and I just realized today there are large Lovecraftian swimmy things in the duck pond
I just misread a description of person using chat-gpt to mimic other authors as a “taintless asshole” (instead of “talentless asshole”) and I think it actually is really apt
This movie is really really good and you all should watch it. If you've got the criterion streamer, it's there.
A ★★★★★ review of Ikarie XB 1 (1963)
Literally everything I liked about 2001, The Andromeda Strain, Aliens - pretty much any sci-fi movie set in space - is captured in this 1963 Czechoslovak film. The set design is just incredible; each ...

Stancil is on my block list but not my mute list, so some days it’s like an Agatha Christie novel piecing the clues together
Never understood why the military/police made robots that looked and moved like humans or dogs instead of nature’s perfect killing machine
