Congratulations to CGH's Rebecca Williamson for winning the prize for best PGR paper at the @socialhistsoc.bsky.social conference, for her paper entitled ‘Wilfully, Wickedly, Feloniously’: Scots Law and Abortion, 1858′! This is a fantastic endorsement of Rebecca's important and timely work

Delighted to have been awarded the Postgraduate Paper Prize at this year’s Social History Society conference! @socialhistsoc.bsky.social Amidst cuts, redundancies, and the institutional disavowal of historical research, it was invigorating to engage with scholars who continue doing the Good Work

Many congratulations to @daviddoddington.bsky.social on receiving the Social History Society 2026 Book Prize 🥳 “Old Age and American Slavery” is a must read!

Truly honoured to have had my research recognised among so many excellent papers! Thank you SHS for fostering such a welcoming and supportive space. Communities like this are an encouraging reminder of the strength of our discipline in these difficult times, and I feel privileged to be a part of it!

Travelling back from my very first @socialhistsoc.bsky.social conference in Lancaster. Such a lovely, welcoming group of people and excellent, wide ranging papers from early career, independent, and established scholars. Amazingly varied historical work on parenthood, disability & anti-racism.

I might no longer be PGR rep, but I was delighted to be re-elected to the @socialhistsoc.bsky.social Committee as an Ordinary Member! Big thanks to everyone who voted for me (and to my fellow Committee members for encouraging me to stand for a new position!)

With #SHS2026 now being done, my time as PGR rep for @socialhistsoc.bsky.social has also come to an end. It’s a role that I’ve been in for 4 years and one that I’ve genuinely loved doing, so I am a bit sad to have to leave it! But I’m very happy to be giving it over to @jainahunt.bsky.social!
