That mom friend. Malaysian author of YA and MG. All my book titles are too long for social media bios.

Malaysian Bluesky! I’m a finalist for the Popular-The Star Reader’s Choice Awards this year, and I’m not ashamed to say that I’d love to win! I’ve been nominated before but I’ve never made it to the podium. Please consider casting your vote for me! bookfest.popular.com.my THANK YOU SAYANG KORANG

I realise I never posted these on here but this morning I found out that THE HYSTERICAL GIRLS OF ST BERNADETTE’S has earned its fourth starred review, so here you go: Four stars, all in a row ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hello! It is Wednesday! Drink more water, tell the people you care about that you care about them, pet a floof, stretch, take a nap just because, look up at the sky and find shapes in the clouds, pay a compliment to a random stranger, take a walk, take a breath, take some time for yourself.

An unintended consequence of weaning myself off Twitter is that because it was my main social media of choice I have effectively weaned myself off posting on the internet at large, which means I am one step closer to my final hermit form wherein I simply disappear into a cave never to return

I just had the mind boggling realisation that September is this Friday and I need to lie down. Who allowed this. How is it already the last third of 2023 when I’m still processing 2020

Because I have personally been dealing with a lot of…everything…writing has felt like the equivalent of mental constipation for MONTHS now, and tonight I finally turned in a thing, and it is actually pretty damn good, and I am proud of it, and of myself. And now I will sleep for the next two days.

I guess I should finally do one of those introductory posts on here. Hello everyone. My name is Hanna Alkaf, and I write critically-acclaimed, sometimes-award-nominated, sometimes-even-award-winning, very Malaysian MG and YA novels.

The demise of Twitter makes me sad. It was the birthplace of both my writing community and advocacy, and I’m not sure how much of either I can scrape back together on another platform. But here I am, attempting it anyway.

I am on Twitter. I am on Instagram. I am on BlueSky. I am on Threads. I am the faint scent of jasmine on a midnight breeze tickling the back of your neck. I am the echo of laughter dancing just on the edge of your hearing, a shadow in the corner of your eye. I am a haunting.
