Allison's first lines here are, 'I am not a numbers person. While I carry reams of poetry around in my head, statistics seldom stick.' If she could understand statistics (AKA facts), she'd know there isn't a 'welfare balloon'.

I'm not saying he did nothing wrong. He definitely exaggerated achievements and made some false claims. I'm not sure what to make of the plagiarism allegation. But, as we confront environmental, political and economic emergencies, on a scale of 1-10 the importance of this story is roughly 0.01.

The chase was begun by racists, who saw his fabulations and alleged plagiarism as a great chance to slap down uppity Black people, and to advance their efforts to stifle equality of opportunity. Then most of the media seemed to take leave of its senses. How was this a headline story, day after day?
