The end of s2 to me is Angel's nightmare coming true, he does not actually derive joy from hurting other people and is repeatedly shown to stand up for others even at his own expense so to find out HE was being used to reveal secrets and hurt Charlie & the others was truly devastating to him
i feel like that's ultimately what Angel means when he's so deeply gutted at the end of s2 and says he never had a choice but he thought he did. He thought he could at LEAST spend time at the hotel and have a little reprieve but he's not willing to do it if it means he's used to hurt his friends
was talking to a pal and it just kinda hit me like i know Charlie fucks up bad with Angel and that sucks. However...,, even if Charlie was a 100% perfect friend to Angel at all times, that wouldn't change his situation or the fact he was violated and used against the hotel because Val let Vox do it
