People definitely bike in the winter. It's definitely an infrastructure problem. Here is a photo I took when halfway across the Mass Ave bridge, the bike lane suddenly ended in a giant pile of snow forcing me into traffic. @wutrain.bsky.social do better this year.

Re: “people don’t bike in the winter”, let’s think about places where people bike more: the Netherlands, Denmark, Berlin, Paris. Not great weather Places in Southern Europe with great weather and no winter (Italy, Greece) don’t have large biking numbers It’s not the weather. It’s infrastructure

High gas prices are not new or surprising. I’ve seen gas prices spike (due to war or natural disasters) my whole life. Every time, people freak out. But once it’s over, most forget about it. They keep buying large, inefficient vehicles.

Saying "just buy an EV if you hate high gas prices" to poor people makes climate activists look out of touch. Those who are most impacted by high gas prices can't afford $20k+ on a vehicle and charger. I certainly can't, so let's keep that in mind before we shame people for not going electric.
