question for #amquerying writers: what language do you put in your queries to communicate you do not consent for agents to feed your manuscript/pages into an AI 'detection' program and where are you putting it in your query/form? I'd appreciate any input since I'll be querying again very soon!

I’m kicking off HispanicHeritage Month with two 📚 by a Latinx author I know pretty well: me ☺️. My 📚 explore different aspects of identity, family, history & resilience. #Booksky There are so many wonderful authors and stories to celebrate and I’m excited to put some of them on your reading lists.

judging how 'fans' are reacting to the new rogue casting and how even a rando here put me on a blocklist a while ago after seeing my 'woke' pitch for my book that I comp as x-men meets bridgerton w/mexican mc's...I think I have great chances of selling my book through publicity of yt man tears alone

also hi it's been a long time since I've been active on bsky or the book space in social media, so let's play a wip game! 😊 comment with a word and I'll share a sentence featuring that word from my wip 🕷💋 (soon to be querying!)

Happy Pride! 🌈 Friendly reminder that the first story I got published in a mag was a queer sapphic YA story 🖤 and I will continue to incorporate my queerness in my writing projects no matter how 'unmarketable' queer stories are (and especially stories about queer BIPOC characters) ✌🏼

If you'd like to check out what I have cooking re: writing projects, make sure to read & sign up to my newsletter for exclusive insights 🌸 I also hope to get back to writing historical deep dives soon so let me know if there's a historical topic/question about my books you'd like me to yap about 😊

Hi, I’m still on social media hiatus but hoping to get back to this space soon with news to share (hopefully) In the meantime I am currently wearing the same sweatshirt as in my pfp today (just to be cozy haha) and hoping Frankenstein gets some well deserved wins at the Oscar’s tonight 🖤

Me wearing a black sweatshirt with text from Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein printed on it in white

It appears as though SFWA has had a very quick change of heart and is now back on the right side of this. Shouldn't have happened in the first place. New Nebula Awards eligibility rules for generated text are now:

Previous Text:

“Works that are wholly written using generative large language model (LLM) tools are not eligible.”

New Text:

“Works that are written, either wholly or partially, by generative large language model (LLM) tools are not eligible.”

-and-

Previous Text:

“Works that used LLMs at any point during the writing process must disclose this upon acceptance of the nomination, and the nature of the technology’s use will be made clear to voters on the final ballot”

New Text:

“Works that used LLMs at any point during the writing process must disclose this upon acceptance of the nomination, and those works will be disqualified.”

anyway, I took a bit of a break from bsky and I probably still won't be posting as often as I did before except to share fun things I make or share important announcements ✌🏼 last #wipwednesday on IG, since I mentioned it in a live chat, I shared a snippet of the most bisexual scene in TBOAD 💖💜💙

“Relax, Ehren. The key to dancing with a partner is all about subtle touch. Mathieu is leading, so when he presses forward on your hand, you step back…” Adrian pressed her fingers into Ehren’s hip and pulled him towards her, making his breath hitch at the warm, prickling sensation of her touch through his clothes. “And when he presses into your back, you step forward.”
Adrian had a hand over Mathieu’s, and Ehren felt both their combined pressures as he stepped forward, nearly brushing noses with Mathieu and feeling the young man’s wine-tinted breath on his lips. As novel as it was to touch another man like this, Ehren was even more stimulated by Adrian’s firm, but gentle, guiding touches and the way her voice sent soft vibrations down his neck as she whispered into his ear. With Mathieu at his front and Adrian at his back, both gentle and patient partners, they all moved together for a few measures of the music, and Ehren realized he was somehow successfully dancing a waltz.

I've been on threads for <1 week and I hate to report that it's much like bsky in the way that discoverability & connecting w/other writers is difficult...but it's not even fun. at least bsky still has writer hashtag events & people sharing snippets. over there it's just CONSTANT shade throwing.

Found this draft for a substack article that I completely forgot about all about why classic Historical Romance tropes still work today but what I've already written is pretty good. Maybe I'll get back to it after the new year 😊

The case for hand holding close ups and other victorian sensibilities

I don’t know if anyone even sees my stuff on here unless I include a hashtag (and I don’t like doing that because that mostly attracts bots and scam accounts) and it’s not a matter of me not knowing how to social media—it’s not enough people engaging with their own mutuals who don’t post daily
