Phang: "Capital One said, 'We don't want the business anymore of the 45th president of the United States, his businesses, his failed sons, and his revocable trust.' So you can imagine -- I am just hypothesizing... but it suggests whatever Capital One uncovered was pretty bad. Makes you wonder..."

Whitehouse: "Today I think is a sad and embarrassing day for this committee as it looks like on a party-line vote we are going to advance out of this committee probably the most discreditable person ever to seek the office of attorney general. Let's start with the Epstein files ... "

James Talarico: Today is the the anniversary of Ken Paxton’s famous mugshot. What's fascinating about that story is that he was scamming his own friends. If Ken Paxton is willing to scam his own friends for a quick buck, what makes you think he's not going to scam you in the United States Senate?

BRENNAN: Should there be an ethics probe to look into Max Miller? REP. MIKE TURNER: This is a matter of litigation. This is best handled in a courtroom, not a TV studio. This type of speculation is better for TMZ than CBS B: So it doesn't matter to you? TURNER: The court needs to handle this

Katie Phang on Todd Blanche's meeting with Epstein survivors: "If you can imagine being the victim of this type of horrific child sex abuse, and then in your mind the brass ring is 'Let me sit down with the top cop of our country to be heard,' and to have him be such a dismissive asshole."

James Talarico on Texas officially banning THC: “Texans aren’t going to stop smoking weed and eating edibles because politicians in Austin say so. We are now telling full-grown adults how to live their lives. This is the nanny state at its worst; this is big government at its worst."

Several Democratic members of Congress are requesting the House Ethics Committee investigate Congressman Max Miller (R-OH) over allegations that he assaulted his ex-wife, Emily Moreno, and possibly injured their child.

Democratic candidates in competitive races are hoping that anger over labor and delivery unit closures will prompt voters to reject the Republican lawmakers who helped enact President Trump's tax-and-spending law, which contained nearly $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid.

These latest texts show that the Border Patrol still has a continuing culture problem. Despite the 2019 scandal leading to the Border Patrol ordering agents never to use the term "tonks," it continues to proliferate among agents, enough that they were texting it to each other on official phones.

Text messages and footage
The motion contains several references to immigration agents using racial epithets such as the slur “tonk.” Guidance from U.S. Customs and Border Protection in 2019 stated that “the term tonk is not appropriate” because it is “considered a derogatory term and CBP does not condone its use,” the Huffington Post reported.

In one text chain, an agent referred to “snatch & grabs.”

“I think [the Border Patrol agents] only know one way to operate,” an agent said in a text chain. “See bodies, chase bodies.”

It’s unclear if agents texted any other slurs, as many phones have yet to be turned over.
