I was curious to see if it was just me or if the awoos were more triumphant and numerous today and sure enough the numbers agree! And it was a fun opportunity to try "drinking from the firehose" using Bsky's Jetstream replay API. Awoooooooo!

Stacked line chart titled of awoo posts on Bluesky per 20 seconds, 12:55 to 1:20 PM, one line per monthly from Jan 2025 to Nov 2026. Early lines are more flat. The peaks right after 1:00 PM grow taller month by month. Aug, Sep and Oct 2026 show a second, larger peak around 1:03. The bottom line, Nov 2026, is highlighted in light blue and is the tallest, peaking about 30 seconds after the sirens.Bar chart titled "O's per awoo": the number of O's in 295 awoo posts from Nov 4 2026. "Awoo" with 2 O's is the most common at 50 posts, and counts fall steadily as awoos get longer, with a few at 25 or more O's. Median 6, longest 270.

I happened to be doing some maintenance on my server hosting my PDS and thought I broke something, but it looks to just be a Bluesky AppView outage. Initial looking suggests it was a bad authoritative DNS config update on their end, which can be fun to wind back on short notice 😅

For lawyers in Minnesota who want to resist the ICE occupation: forms.gle/YK9mVYTft1Lt... So many folks in our legal community are ready and eager to get involved. But right now, a lot of work is being done in a decentralized way, by groups without bandwidth to organize. Let's coordinate efforts.

I’m raising money for Groveland Emergency Food Shelf, a South Minneapolis nonprofit that provides emergency groceries for those in need. They’re currently struggling to keep up with demand, and they’re getting their first $16k in donations matched. I’ve got $50 on it! Can anyone match me?

My statement on tonight's DFL Feminist Caucus Annual Meeting. This statement is being emailed to the Feminist Caucus Chair, Alicia Gibson, and to the State DFL Chair, Richard Carlbom. This caucus should be ashamed of itself.

Tonight, I attended my first and last DFL Feminist Caucus meeting. As someone who did not come by my feminism through how I was raised, but rather fought my way through to live as the gender I am and to exist as a non-binary person in this world, I found the experience to be demeaning, demoralizing, and actively anti-feminist. If being a feminist in the DFL means caucusing with this group, count me out.

My pronouns are very simple and yet the caucus chairs and caucus leadership could not get them correct, despite being repeatedly reminded and corrected at every single opportunity. However, they could suddenly use the singular “they” when it came to my fellow caucus member who happened to be a trans woman, despite her repeatedly giving her pronouns as she/her.

This was just the beginning. It was clear from the start that no one leading this meeting understood Robert’s Rules, and very clearly wanted to vote for their friends and be done with it. At the very beginning, an illegal motion was made to just adopt an entire slate of leadership, despite there being challengers to those positions known to the caucus. For me, however, the most hurtful thing was that despite repeatedly affirming that underrepresented people should run for caucus office, should be prioritized in the process, no trans or non-binary people were represented in any of the caucus leadership, much less respected in the meeting. My pronouns - they/them - were clearly seen as an inconvenience, met with eyerolls and annoyance whenever I corrected people. At one point, one of the newly elected caucus leadership claimed her pronouns are “Black Queen,” a clear mockery of the process of asking for pronouns altogether.

Does this reflect DFL values? To mock a non-binary person whose community is under direct attack from the president himself? To refuse to use a person’s proper pronouns so repeatedly and without care that I had to make a SIGN with them on it for the meeting?

It wasn’t as though my pronouns were a surprise. I sent in my statement of intent to run for Vice Chair the day before the meeting and it was sent out to all members. I identified my pronouns in that statement. And yet, they were ignored.

The DFL Feminist Caucus is anything but. I resign my membership.

We deserve a city government that works for all of us—where decisions are made based on what’s right for the people of our city, not based on who is most loyal to the mayor. We deserve better.

Rode an e-trike (rented from @mplscargobikelibrary.com) to Mayorpalooza last night. I don't know how to ride a bike, so this was my first ride EVER. I loved it! Can't wait to try it again! Grateful to live in such a bikeable city and to the bike library for helping me discover the joys of cycling.

Me beside the Minnehaha Creek trail at dusk, smiling for the camera, wearing a gray bike helmet, and standing next to an electric tricycle.

A tree that seems to have exploded from the storm last night! Near Cedar and 46th. Seems like a lightning strike the way it's splintered out. #mnwx

Photo of a tall tree in front of a house on a residential city street, damaged seemingly by lightning strike or wind with branches falling to the side.

Finally getting set up here, tried verifying a custom domain and now I have an "invalid handle" according to my profile view, oops.. Curious how many people are hosting their own PDS or just using BSky's servers 🤔
