Ty Cobb was a federal prosecutor, a defense lawyer, and a lawyer in the Trump Administration – just like Todd Blanche. His assessment of Blanche is unequivocal. “Blanche is unfit to be Attorney General of the United States.”

Former Trump White House Lawyer Ty Cobb: Todd Blanche Is Unfit to Be Attorney General

Liz Oyer’s powerful testimony before the Senate showed what Todd Blanche’s leadership has meant for the Justice Department. Her illegal firing and the intimidation that followed represent the mistreatment that so many career employees have experienced under Blanche’s leadership at DOJ.

Todd Blanche’s hearing confirmed what we knew – he still views himself as Trump’s lawyer. And after his hearing there are critical questions left to be answered. Justice Connection’s DOJ alumni network prepared the following questions Senators should demand he answer before any confirmation vote.

Senator Grassley knows the more than 1,200 DOJ alumni who signed Justice Connection’s letter are not “partisan activists.” They are civil servants who proudly enforced the rule of law across 14 administrations of BOTH parties. They know DOJ best, and they know that Blanche is unfit to lead it.

Todd Blanche is a failed acting Attorney General. He steadfastly has represented the interests of the president of the United States. He has NOT represented the interests of the American people. Indeed, he has VICTIMIZED the American people, first among them, the Epstein victims/survivors.

“Todd Blanche does not serve justice,” @michaelfanone.bsky.social says. “He serves criminals who beat up cops and assaulted our democracy.” In a new Justice Connection video, Fanone joins former January 6 DOJ prosecutor Mike Gordon in urging the Senate to reject Blanche’s nomination for AG.

Creating a case load quota will only add more pressure to an already overtaxed workforce — driving more dedicated public servants out of the department — and skew prosecutions toward simple crimes rather than the complex but necessary cases that only DOJ can pursue.

Complex white collar, organized crime, public corruption, and national security matters often require the full attention of several prosecutors. To say those prosecutors are not being productive demonstrates a deep misunderstanding of how the Justice Department works.

Proud Boys and Oath Keepers who helped lead the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6 had their convictions tossed out by Todd Blanche’s DOJ. Senators must not confirm an Attorney General who openly excuses the attack on our democracy. Especially ones who have publicly drawn that red line.

Judge tosses remaining Jan. 6 Proud Boys convictions after DOJ request

The convictions are some of the last remaining cases after President Donald Trump’s sweeping pardons in January 2025.

Changing DOJ’s Environment and Natural Resources Division to the ‘Energy’ and Natural Resources Division caters to the priorities of the President and an Administration using energy “emergencies” to evade environmental laws. Read Justice Connection’s full statement:

A former AG should be the first person to reject an AG nominee who signs off on weaponized prosecutions and investigations, unlawful DOJ firings, the president’s IRS immunity deal, and failing to fully comply with the law to release the Epstein files. Blind loyalty is NOT constitutional judgment.

Opinion | Confirm Todd Blanche at Justice

He is well-qualified and will run the department as well as anyone could under President Trump.
