It’s Black History Month in the UK, and King Charles is preparing for a Caribbean tour that will take him to The Bahamas, Guyana and Antigua and Barbuda without offering a formal apology for Britain’s role in the transatlantic slave trade. Buckingham Palace says Charles will acknowledge what he has previously called the “darkest days of our past.” But there will be no apology and no commitment to financial reparations. The UK government maintains that position, and the King acts on ministerial advice. So we are apparently getting sorrow without an apology and acknowledgement without restitution.

The listing is from a London-based professional bookseller, Drive Easy’s Signed Books, which describes the volume as a presentation copy associated with Eugenie and Jack.
