Hey Jeb! Speaking of villagers/illagers, I've always loved the spell casting mechanics of the Evoker. What were the main design or technical hurdles that kept the Illusioner as an unused mob for so long, and do you generally prefer physical combat mobs over magical ones?

Back in the day I couldn't create "real" illusions so the illusioner was put on the shelf. I don't really have a preference, but I suppose many of the mobs I added were more magical than physical (blaze, guardian, wither, and so on).

I made a bunch of different concepts on paper and decided to go with the one we have now. The spawning is inspired from boss spawning in Terraria.

Dude, I am so excited to see the other villains of Minecraft Dungeons 2. The first game with Archie was great, but deep down, he wasn't really all that evil. These guys get to realise their villanous side a lot more like what we got in Legends with the Generals.

I rather don't confirm or deny, but I agree that the connection looks very plausible.

Random fact: there’s a fly in Dungeons II that’s less than an ambient mob, it’s just a little screen effect. It won’t be in any marketing or toy, it’s not important. But it’s a “new Minecraft creature” so I asked for it to get a real, non-dev name. So the little fly is a “trill”.

@jebox.bsky.social hey Jeb! Building w/ Rstone is hard w/ Ytube due to parity so instead of removing funct. maybe conversion updates? New Echo pistons that works like the java one,then on that update convert all Java pistons to Echo pistons, solving parity and keeping funct. (crafted w/ echo shard)

We evaluate what each game needs independently. Dungeons needs plenty of mobs to fight, while Vanilla builds systems of features, so they have different considerations.

Yeah I know this is a problem. My son tries to follow tutorials on youtube but he plays on bedrock and they often don't work as expected.
