We are definitely viewing things through Evelyn's lense here. The breakdowns in communication between parent and child aren't as one-sided as she thinks. As for how it plays out, we will have to wait and see!
Holding Mom and Dad back is more about their presence in the story or lack thereof. They've got a lot to worry about, and Evelyn isn't always their focus. To her, it can feel like they're not fully there. Mom and Dad may not be mysteries, but they have an important role in the story I want to tell.
