People do not buy ebikes because they are happy to spend thousands more than they would on a regular bike. People buy ebikes because they save thousands compared to the car journeys they replace. That is the key distinction that many policy makers the general public miss or don’t understand.

I picked up my kid from preschool on the cargo bike and rode around town for 45 minutes. We explored parks and neighborhoods. We both had a blast. It's a typical pickup/dropoff commute, but every ride is special.
