San Francisco stuff, tech, politics, stock markets, economics, science, fiction ran for Congress to try to prevent this future one time... no direct message for now please; @ me first

Enough with these useless USB cables! America should pass a law MANDATING that every piece of consumer electronics come STANDARD with a Type A American wall plug adapter. And a Bible verse!

I'm starting to see "looking for high emotional intelligence" as a red flag on dating profiles Like yeah, we all are, right? But what does that mean to you?? First app that hands users a verified EQ score is gonna run the game until Match buys them out

My entire lifestyle runs on like 1/4 of a kilowatt 1–2.5kW, 30kWh per day is considered standard for a modest American home And still PG&E sends me notes like "better cut down on that waste, piggy"

Think about Dracula One of the oldest, canon establishing vampire stories ever, and Stoker is already writing in a mechanism for Dracula to use modern tech to break the Old Rules Vampires must rest in their native soil. They cannot cross water So what does Stoker's vampire do? SHIP HIS OWN SOIL 🤯

Being a Billionaire was crazy a few hundred years ago because you couldn't "found" a new estate when you got bored being Count SpaceX You had to wait for King Trump to grant you new lands and titles for fealty in the wars of succession I guess my point is...maybe we should get back to an idle rich

That's so silly! If that were true what would that say about the rest of the Kalshi death markets? If we can't bet on human suffering what are we supposed to bet on? World Peace? Pfeh! What are the odds? Let's face it folks —gambling is in the constitution. It's never been outlawed

Oregon senators warn prediction markets allowing betting on wildfires could incentivize arson

A public report urges the CFTC to ban prediction market contracts on destructive wildfires, raising concerns over public safety and potential arson.

Is it just me or has the Second Trump Term led to a bump in Divorce? My head canon is that a lot of women thought it was all over after the first term, but now they're realizing the man they thought was going through a phase is actually just Like That

Here's one automation I want: Replace this thing I just broke. Doesn't matter what. Doesn't matter where from, or if it's only available second hand or overstock on eBay, or there's a special disposal protocol or recycling program or discounts or mailer signups Just—a new one shows up in the box

But seriously though... I'm not kidding. This is my "organic" notification feed (a few exceptions hidden)—

Go back on Twitter, and I have 17 notifications, but it's just 17 force-promoted @harlopippenger.bsky.social and @uhshanti.bsky.social tweets about local SF nonsense. You folks realize Elon Musk is just using you as Judas goats for any remaining democratic socialists, right? Free copy for Nazis 🤦‍♂️

I used to come up with Golden Path product roadmaps like this all the time, before I realized most companies jjst want to sell something less good for more until they can get a lateral promotion that absolves them of consequence.

You know what would be a real 5-D move @valvesoftware.com ? A year or so after the steam machine, you've been investing in hardware on the backend, most advanced tech, lightyears ahead. Then bam, Steam Machine 4x - it comes with 4 controllers, and plays 4 player 1080p multiplexed on a 4K screen

The implicit strategic assumption here is that Democrats will have more leverage on Dec 11, over Republicans who know for sure their seats are lost, and maybe their whole congressional majority? It was a mistake to pass last years budget and Dems have gotten nothing since they lost Medicaid + SNAP

MY STATEMENT ON THE CONTINUING RESOLUTION: For months, Democrats have been clear: we want to fund the government, avoid a shutdown and pass strong, bipartisan appropriations bills that improve people’s lives.

Speaking of lost knowledge, wonder how many people go to a website that's not mobile friendly these days and instead of thinking, "This is clearly a job for the Big Computer" they're just like "yuck, cheugy", ignore the content. Does AI make that better or worse when we're not even browsing mobile?

So I was looking up the physical hand/stylus position for pressing a Winkelhaken, and it got me thinking about how wild it would be if cuneiform survived to present day... Writing evolved in Mesoamerica, Mesopotamia, Egypt and China; we only use the last two. Imagine— cdli.ox.ac.uk/wiki/doku.ph...
