I'm a little surprised I've never seen 40k Imperial Knight Throne Mechanicum lore used as inspiration for a mechsplo story. It's literally a throne that you're wired into and then have to fight the ghosts of your ancestors for control while it reshapes your mind to be that of a feudal knight.
