...Sneezed with medicine in my mouth. Today is cursed.

[Mar continues to sob until he gains control of himself again. He turns off the tears so quickly once he has them under control. It's almost scary.] I guess so... [His voice is another story. Eros can hear the strain in it.]

oh, honey ... you couldn't have possibly known all that as a kid ... we all make dumb choices when we're young. every one of us. ( he breaks his heart in two to hear him cry. he wished he could magically make his woes go away. the best he can offer is his company. )

Wha. Build-a-water-bear?! [Mar is enraptured.] That's hilarious. I would so have one if I knew that was happening. If it came in pink, I could dress it up like Stardigrade. That'd be awesome. [He shows no sign of wanting to stop Eros. Learning about water bears is fun.]

pretty sure they even made a build a bear version too! ( nodnod. he's surprised. usually, people stop him when he rambles. )

"Thanks." Mar smiles a bit as he loads up the campfire circle with wood. "I just... have to move on. They're never coming back." That's what hurts the most. They knew they would never be able to come back, and they chose this anyway. They chose to leave Mar alone. "...I'm tired of being alone."

there's a lot of companions lost over time. bonds withering and severing with time and distance. he never was great at social things. he holds himself up in his lab and rarely leaves. this was the most adventurous he's been in ages. " ... m' sorry. i know i can't replace them, but i hope my -->

Yeah, there's a beastiary. I have to write it by hand, but mine is pretty thorough. [Mar sets down his backpack and pulls out a binder, then hands it over to Eros. There are Polaroid pictures taped to each entry. Some of them are in rather funny positions thanks to Mar's sense of humor.]

[Mar used to watch animal documentaries when he was little, so the lecture captures his attention. He nods in encouragement every now and then as Eros lays down the facts.]

I think it's based on that tiny organism, the water bear? Either way, these guys are kind of neat. They evolve into this space bumblebee with a cape flowing behind it. Really cool design.
