Finance journalism is broken. Markets “hit records” as more people losing jobs means borrowing money against investments will be cheaper. This week we can expect the benefits of renewables driving down prices in wholesale electricity markets to be wiped out by the war in Iran. Expect huge spikes in the price of gas, even though it’s extracted and used here, nowhere near the conflict. We need a domestic reserve policy immediately
