Jack Grove contacted Cambridge's Office of Research Integrity which precipitated an investigation that found the allegations "out of scope" So, of course, Cambridge knew about the THE piece, and the allegations therein
This is not true. Cambridge (nor any other university) has no such duty of care, and there is zero evidence they advised him. Indeed they have denied knowledge of the THE piece. No reason to make this bigger than it actually is.
Vice Chancellor, Prof Deborah Prentice, & Chancellor, Lord Smith, of Cambridge University have repeatedly stressed importance of freedom of speech Can we expect a clear condemnation of the setting of police on journalist from Times Higher Education? www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2025/12...
The invisible Woman Understandably, there's concern at Prof Arday's state of mind Matter is being exacerbated by refusal of Cambridge University to answer legitimate questions Institutional silence has turned a controversy into a full-blown scandal
The heart of this scandal is institutional Cambridge had a duty of care to Professor Arday. What advice was he given & by whom? Why did Carter-Ruck and the police become involved? Who made that decision, and why? These questions demand answers 21percent.org?p=4129

"it's not the crime, it's the cover-up" Who set Carter-Ruck & the Metropolitan Police on Jack Grove of Times Higher Education? If Arday, he's no innocent If Cambridge University, it's worse It's corruption -- use of public money to hush up a scandal www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/08...

Why pile on the university before checking the claim? It may be true, or it may be there with the 600 miles in 6 days abd the water for Africa.
To close the Arday saga down what is needed is 1 No more interviews by Arday. No book launch until it's been completely checked 2 Statement by Cambridge University that matters will be examined by independent inquiry (ie one which Cambridge does not control).
Jason Arday had only one formal supervision meeting during his PhD program, with most guidance via text Plagiarism review found copying was "within acceptable standards" Liverpool John Moores University faces questions over quality control in its doctoral program

Turnitin review of Arday’s thesis by 'Bathetic Fallacy' exposes more plagiarism Liverpool John Moores & Cambridge University failed to do so despite months of review Serious failures in internal university processes at both places batheticfallacy.substack.com/p/jason-arda...
Distressing news on job losses at University of Exeter Universities need friends with political influence Impact of Arday scandal - and its mishandling by Cambridge University leadership - has wider consequences It becomes harder for universities to maintain public confidence & political support
Liverpool John Moores University have questions to answer too After wholly inadequate supervision, LJMU granted Jason Arday a PhD for a thesis that was of low quality LJMU then dismissed plagiarism charges, as they were “well within accepted range of compliance with academic standards" 😲

It's the curious incident of the dog in the night again The silence from the BBC and The Guardian on the Jason Arday story is telling A negative fact, but the most significant of all Their lack of response strongly suggests they accept that the allegations are largely true Sadly
