We are approaching you 📣 in relation to allometries and close range remote sensing (CRS). We are looking for destructive data and CRS data for the same #trees 🌳🌲 of any #species. Do you have such data and want to collaborate with us? Just, fill this up: https://t.co/eXqRO4RR8I

CRS Allometries

We are approaching you based on the next step we are taking in one of the practical cases of WG1 3DForEcoTech COST Action, the one related to allometries and close range remote sensing (CRS). We are preparing a paper related to the usage of destructive data to develop allometric models for explaining volume or biomass of various species using CRS-and/or traditional measurements. We will work at tree level. Based on it, we would like to ask you if you have data from destructive measurements (traditional approach) and any CRS scan of the same tree. This kind of data is quite scarse and involves a lot of work. Therefore, the value of this data, combined from different locations/countries is even greater and we would really appreciate if you could help us in the compilation of information to improve the knowledge of this topic. If you can provide this kind of data (together with a review of the manuscript), we would like to offer you co-authorship in the publication for your datasets (one person per dataset). Together with the data, we need some extra information to analyse, classify and homogenise the information in further steps. In case you have any doubt, please do not hesitate to contact us: meinrad.abegg@wsl.ch, menendez.maria@inia.csic.es

Have you enjoyed our content on this summer school? 🌳 Watch this trailer of the documentary addressing interdisciplinary work and communication of your research! Make sure to save the post to get notified when we post the link to the full documentary in the upcoming days! 🥳

The essence of research: Staying curious while failing. We learn the most during the process of failure! So be patient with yourself and jump into the trial-error process to learn faster! Let’s share our experience - how do you find your way out of frustrating moments in science?

When diving into working with other disciplines, we have to adapt our mindset! It requires patience, time and energy not to be discouraged by not understanding at first! But don’t worry, if you stick to it, you’ll soon be able to make new connections and improve your research!

It’s time!! ✨ you learned about our team so we made some videos to finally share more in depth information about the Interdisciplinary Summer School on forest ecosystems 2023! 🤩🌳 watch @m_mokros explain to you what our students exactly did during their time in Ljubljana!

Our expert on interdisciplinary work - Markus Eichhorn! An infinite pool of motivating messages for students! One of them: Do the crazy call! He encourages students to go out of the box, break the boundaries disciplines place on us and approach people with ideas to collaborate!

We interviewed students about their interdisciplinary experience: “If you don’t understand something, it’s good to take a step back & take it as a challenge”says Lucas Chojnacki (University of Wageningen). This, and seeing what results he’s aiming at while programming helps!

Sabina transitioned from grasslands to unmanaged forests for her PhD. Adapting to new methods, she sought reliable help for data collection in remote areas. Contacts from various fields helped in her research which she now shares with by chairing a Cost Action!🌳#Bottomsup

“I think that the connection between people is the most important thing in science!” @PeterPetrk8 from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology knows that good ideas come from collaborations - which is why he attends the summer school! 🌲🌳

Meet Laura, Co-Chair in the PROCLIAS Group and excited about getting into topics & finding solutions for problems. She has been doing process-based ecosystem modeling since her PhD and feels like summer schools are always refreshing because meeting new people brings new ideas!

Combating Climate Change! PROCLIAS brings researchers together for cross-sectoral climate impact studies. Harmonized datasets and robust process-based modeling help us understand climate impacts better. Let's make a difference!#ClimateChangeResearch #GlobalImpact @climateimpacts_

Let’s talk about what we learned! @3DForEcoTech focuses on how to monitor and understand forests with terrestrial based technologies - and in the summer school we taught students how to process the data from the field! Aren’t these point clouds beautiful? 🌳😇 #pointcloud #forest
