The remains of the Ludendorf Bridge at Remagen. It was built 1916-18 to get German troops quicker to the western front. In the second world war it was taken by the Americans enabling the allies to get across the Rhine easily. There is a great museum here, 6 euros entrance. Highly recommended.

I have never seen a monument before for republicans from the Spanish Civil War. Thousands fought for the French in 1940 and those captured by the Germans were sent to Mauthausen. This monument commemorates the first train leaving with 927 republican prisoners from Angouleme,France in August 1940.
