Because of this post I learned that there’s an author who wrote a book on this exact subject so I immediately got it. Documenting all of the old Famicom shops and their mascots, it’s really thorough and very well done with tons of pictures. Looking forward to reading it!

My favorite part of retro game shopping in Japan is that sometimes you find these unique items. These are cartridge sleeves made by certain video game stores that no longer exist, in the case of “Famicom Shop Top Boy” they even have a whole character/mascot set with their own lore and everything.

I found this whole set of unlicensed adult Famicom games, surprised to even see these at a Hard Off! They’re mostly Hanafuda, Poker & Mah Jong games with some 80’s 8 bit pictures thrown in. Fun novelties but not sure I’d want to pay that much for these lol

And that’s all 8 badges! I wanted to experience Pokémon Gold in its original form since I never got to as a kid. It seems I really missed out since it’s an improvement on the original in every way. What do you think about the original Gold?
