Death & Judgment represent either side of major shifts in our personal timelines. Death asks us to come in close and honor that timeline’s close. Judgment asks us to keep our eyes towards the future, towards the big new yes. And drawing them TOGETHER? Well, shit, dude. Cards from The Brady Tarot.

Two Tarot cards stuck into the earth, old leaves and mulch surrounding them at the foot of bushes of Blazing Stars. There are no flowers down here, just beautiful green stems and leaves. On the left is Death, depicting a human skull with amaranth blooming from its eye sockets, a beetle taking a sip of water dripping from one of them. The skull sits atop soil, just below it, a saber tooth tiger skull, and below that, buried deep and emerging from the bottom of the card, the skull of a tyrannosaurus rex. On the right is Judgment. A massive flock of little brown bats bursts forth from a cave in the mountains at high noon, led by an enormous golden eagle.

The Page of Swords seeks high ground to gain a better vantage point. He’s inexperienced, but he’s confident despite his nerves, and he knows he’ll learn. As he practices, his nerves will disappear, his mind will quiet, he’ll feel more stable on the earth below him, and he’ll grow into the Hermit. 💕

The Hermit and the Page of Swords from the Smith-Waite Centennial deck are nestled amongst leaf litter in the top of a decaying log. The Hermit depicts an elderly man with a white beard, standing against a teal background and wearing a hooded cream-colored robe. He is holding a lantern with a six-pointed star inside. To his right is the Page of Swords, a young man standing atop a hill, blue sky filled with fluffy clouds behind him. The Page wears a pinkish tunic over a yellow shirt and leggings with red boots, and holds a sword up and off to the side, with his long chestnut hair whipping in the wind.

MNEMOSYNE 🫧 While reflecting on the Moon card I reread my dream journal, and found frustrating excerpts from a setting I had not realized had been recurring for months. The plot might be different, but the house was always the same.

A tiny, cream-colored book lies open on the floor, propped open by a white apophylite crystal and leaning on a pale blue celestite. It is mostly out of focus, the edges of everything appearing slightly blue in the pale sunlight.A large piece of paper titled Mnemosyne Dream Spread and marked by creases lies open on a wooden floor. A sketch of the moon graces the top right of the page, and atop the paper lies a pyramid of Tarot cards from The Fountain Tarot. The left side of the paper is held down by purple fragments of lepidolite crystal, and a white chunk of sparkling apophyllite. Laid open over the bottom right of the paper is a small zine open to a spread depicting dream fragments and a drawing of a blueberry bush over arched windows, a humpback whale swimming in from the right.

I've just opened bookings for the second half of January, through the end of February! Cartomancy sessions with me are an hour long. Come with a particular question or project in mind, or just as you are, and we'll open with a chat to decide what kinds of spreads will suit your needs.
