DO NOT. I repeat, DO NOT give your personal ID to these sites because they're trying to push mass surveillance on every website and this really will be the death of the internet. NEVER. GIVE. THEM. YOUR. PERSONAL. ID.

Twitch is requiring new Affiliates, before their first payment, to give government photo ID and a separate photo to Persona, the same Persona that has connections to government mass surveillance programs. When I asked Twitch support for another option, they said there isn't one. #twitch #persona 1/4

Text on Twitch's website saying "Verify Your Identity" "Submit proof of identity and location to receive your payout" "In order to receive your payout, you need to verify your identity through Persona, Twitch's identity verification service. You will have 3 tries. Please be ready to provide both of the following: 1. A picture of your government-issued identification card, such as an identity card, passport or driver's license. 2. A "selfie" (i.e., a picture of your face), taken using a webcam or phone camera. By clicking "Start Verification" below, you understand that you will be leaving Twitch and will be redirected to Persona's service, and further understand and acknowledge that Twitch may send Persona limited personal information about you to facilitate the identity verification process, in accordance with Twitch's Privacy Notice. Information you provide to Persona will not be used for any purposes other than to verify your identity and will not be stored for longer than necessary to fulfill this purpose. Need Help? See our detailed onboarding guide." "Start Verification"
