the pleasant bureaucrats almost always provide justification for the worst excesses of their age. hegel's entire philosophy is an apologia for slavery... the poets are at least human; awful and beautiful but leading us somewhere new and, i believe, ultimately good.
@lastpositivist.bsky.social · 2y agoI really think at its heart philosophy is one giant battle, taking place over many eras and nations, between people who are basically pleasant bureaucrats and people who are sexy murder poets, and it’s both super important and super boring that the pleasant bureaucrats must win.
i think something that can be said about all people who transition - or come out of the closet at all - is they have answered life at least once with a resounding YES. this is more than most manage and those lacking virtue always resent those who display it.
