In June I captured about 60K messages broadcast from Tire Pressure Monitoring System sensors that were rolling down Magazine street. I stripped away the ones that were obviously mine&my neighbors, the rest seem to be distributed like I'd expect.

It won’t stop at math. Machines getting better at thinking through abstract problems than we are is going to be an emotional crisis for lots of people. I wish we were engaging that directly instead of having ridiculous shadow-debates about GPUs’ inherent thirst for water.

I see that—but there’s also a social urge to denigrate “fashion” partly because it’s seen as primarily a woman’s pursuit, and (esp as car enthusiasts) we need to push back on that. Cars *are* fashion accessories. We tell stories to other ppl about ourselves with our cars…

I don't understand how EV charging companies took a look at the millions of quick, standardized, and easy to operate gas pumps around the country, and said: "How can we make this process worse? I know, let's make it only work through a phone app, and require you to have a membership!"
Robin@rtkimz.bsky.social · 2mo agoAbsolutely! and if by chance you do find a charger, you have to download their app, set up an account, give your credit card information, and hope everything works so you can pay whatever ridiculous price per kWh they decide to charge you. It is frustrating, to say the least!

This reminded me of how you used to be able to DoS an office by sending a giant video to Slack(or maybe it was HipMonk?), and then every client would try to download it immediately tying up the office cable modem.

Also built on the assumption that no other company will come along and offer the same services for $22.6 trillion. Because efficiencies never show up in competitive pricing.

When I said I would do anything for my family and my country I only meant stuff I already like doing, like shooting guns for instance. If I have to do something annoying like conserve resources then obviously I'm not willing to do that

Cooper Lund@cooperlund.online · 3mo agoAnyway, my stance is that a lot of the complaints about AI are PR issues caused because nobody in Silicon Valley knows how to be normal, because being weird is how you signal to investors that you're different. It's not enough to say "It made me an app", you have to do this shit to stand out.
