Bears' offense looks LEGIT... defense not so much 😬 | @aaronschatz.com's FTN Football Almanac 2026
Football Card of the Day: 1996 Fleer Erik Kramer One of the great one-year wonders, Kramer had the best QB season in modern Bears history in 1995. At age 31 had nearly twice the DYAR of any other Bears QB season, then hurt his neck after four games of 1996 and was never the same.
I wanted to come up with a good Kendall Hinton joke here but I just can’t with this nonsense.
Ron Johnson: "Aaron Rodgers was smart enough to take ivermectin when he got covid ... unfortunately, more people didn't follow him. We wouldn't have had as many of athletes falling unconscious, sometimes dead on the field of play. You've seen the video reels of this happening in 2021."
Football Card of the Day: 1978 Topps Larry Csonka. This set came in the mail today, the oldest cards I've bought so far. So old that Csonka's card has both AFL and WFL stats on it. My eventual goal is to own at least one set from each year that I've done DVOA (back to 1977).

You Just Might Be Underrating These 5 Fantasy Names
Bryan Knowles says you just aren't high enough this year on Quinshon Judkins, Parker Washington, and Kyler Murray -- especially in Best Ball.

Are the Seahawks built to repeat as Super Bowl Champs? 🤔 | @aaronschatz.com's FTN Football Almanac 2026
C.J. Stroud 20th is massive overresponse to the two playoff games. Lower than Aaron Rodgers??? Drake Maye tied with Jared Goff is a small overresponse to the playoffs as well. As always, awesome work by Mike Sando.
Our 2026 NFL Quarterback Tiers results are here. The panel this year consisted of 21 execs and 29 coaches overall. Each voter placed 35 veteran QBs into five tiers, from best (Tier 1) to worst (Tier 5). nyti.ms/4yYcfln
Deleted my last post because the darn video didn't start at the right commercial.
When Tom Brady hits you with advanced analytics on Jimmy Fallon 😭 @aaronschatz.com breaks down DVOA so you don't end up lost like Kendall Jenner
Keon Coleman caught a pass in practice. And there was much rejoicing. yaaaay. too-deep-zone.ghost.io/crossroads-w...
Crossroads Wide Receiver Season
Keon Coleman -- and the WRs picked ahead of him in the 2024 draft -- all found themselves in the headlines and at the crossroads as NFL training camps kicked off.

There’s more to production than sack totals but also that’s more sacks than Lucas Van Ness had last year and he is currently the Packers’ No 1 edge.
I mean yea the 2.5 sacks are gonna put em over the top you’re right
The idea that Clowney doesn’t produce is silly. He doesn’t produce like a No 1 pick. Have you seen the Vikings’ depth chart at edge? How about the Packers? The Lions?
Dude doesn’t really produce
I just saw that Jadaveon Clowney signed with Houston today. I don’t understand how one of those NFC North teams didn’t sign him. They all need edge depth more than Houston does.

Very friendly to me from the very beginning of Football Outsiders back in 2003. Will be missed in the football world!
No stretch to say that Paraag Marathe had a massive impact on football and beyond. Game managers lifted his strategies. Analytics execs speak of him as a pioneer. Cap managers studied his contracts. And Michael Lewis got the idea for the Blind Side from him. A great run.
Big injury. Bills’ depth chart at safety is not great. Achilles injuries are awful.

Our long national nightmare is over! (More of a regional nightmare)
OLB Gabe Jacas will practice today, per Mike Vrabel. He will be limited.
And so we reach the conclusion of the Anti-Dynasty list. And could we really end anywhere else but the Factory of Sadness? No. 1: 1995-2025 Cleveland Browns The worst run of all time. And still going strong, 30 years later.

Football Card of the Day: 1992 Topps Carl Banks Interesting set for many reasons. 1) Disagreement with NFLPA meant Topps couldn't do most star players in the regular run. They all got done in a "high number" series released late in the year. 2) First set with higher quality white card stock.
Jaxson Dart saw the literal biggest decline in his passing DVOA from traditional to play-action pass attempts in 2025 per @aaronschatz.com and @ftnfantasy.com. Small sample size, sure. But everyone shouldn't assume that under-center is the best fit for every QB just because Lamar Jackson can do it.
All NFL coaches are innovative geniuses. Also, all 32 offenses will be under center much more this year.

Good player! I voted for him for second-team All-Pro last season, if I remember correctly.
The Browns and standout S Grant Delpit have agreed to terms on a 3-year extension worth $48M with $35M guaranteed. Delpit was in the final year of a contract worth $12M per year. Now, a new deal negotiated by David Mulugheta of Athletes First.
Man, the NFC South. By the way, we're doing the NFC South tomorrow at noon Eastern on the Schatz and @miketanier.bsky.social podcast and livestream.
Saints DT Bryan Bresee suffered knee injury at camp on Wednesday, per Nick Underhill. Will undergo further evaluation.
Based on an idea from @scottspratt.bsky.social, I re-ran the season sim but penalized Arizona from Week 12 on based on the idea that they will sit Brissett and play Beck if they're out of the playoff race. Drops the Cardinals from 7.1 to 6.3 wins with a slight boost to their Wk 12-18 opponents.
