I think broadly about decolonization, ecological overshoot, and collapse 🇵🇸 🌏 When faced with our own destruction, we act against reason.
I offer a correction Industrialism has enabled rapid growth of human population, which has driven rapid growth of energy and material consumption and climate-ecological damage. Capitalism has enabled a small minority of people to gain wealth and power off industrialism at the expense of the rest.
As environmental crises deepen, yesterday’s unthinkable becomes today’s necessity. The more desperate the situation, the less room there is for ecological restraint or consideration of consequences.

Over the past decade I’ve met many people who believe that nuclear fusion power is inevitable, and the only way towards unlimited prosperity and sustainability. But I think fusion enthusiasts do not really understand the scale of its challenge. Watch: youtu.be/Fv_x2yJRrlw
This is why nuclear fusion is such an astronomical challenge

Invasive species do become part of nature. The problem is what nature becomes. It is rarely a one-for-one exchange. A single invasive species can eliminate many native species. The result is a fading echo of nature.
The Big Debate: Should we control invasive species?
If aliens exist somewhere out there, will we ever get a chance to say hello?

Spain, 2026. This fence prevented these animals from escaping to safety, and they burned to death. In the future there will be similar scenes at international borders but the corpses will be of desperate people, not burned but starved and shot to death.
The western industrial civilisation is ruled by narcissistic psychopaths who refuse to accept that our obscene overconsumption of energy and physical materials in pursuit of endless exponential growth is the main driver behind ecological overshoot. Climate change is just one of countless symptoms.

Even if parts of the Rio Grande occasionally dried, the historical river still held side channels, ponds, wetlands, and shaded refuges where fish and other life survived until flows reconnected. Today, that ecological safety net is gone.
How quickly we forget that the Rio Grande once sustained an entire living world. Now people gather to watch water briefly return to its riverbed.
If you think things are bad in the world right now, wait till crops start failing and hundreds of millions of people (likely more) are forced to migrate to escape death from hunger and heatwaves, most of them unsuccessfully. The entire fabric of the modern world will crumble.
One ancient alerce tree supported more than 300 unique fungal species beneath its roots. Now imagine the invisible extinctions caused by cutting half the forest.
Scientists looked beneath one of the oldest trees on Earth. What they found is astounding
The researchers discovered a hidden world of life among the roots of Chile’s ancient alerce trees. Here’s why that’s important The towering conifers of Chile’s southern rainforests do far more than shape the skyline. Research in Biodiversity and Conservation reveals that these ancient trees are hubs of hidden biodiversity, highlighting their crucial role in the forest ecosystem. The temperate rainforests of the Chilean Coast Range are home to many unique and important species, including an

Sam Altman’s brain has entered the singularity that is his own arse. Should we be worried?
I wish there were a more sustainable and planet-friendly way for humanity to commit suicide than by destroying the climate and biosphere.
A few decades ago, Western water fights were farmers vs endangered species. Now they’re farmers vs towns, data centers, solar projects, and semiconductor plants. I miss the good ol’ days when endangered species were still part of the argument.
In US West, drought pits farms against towns, industry in scramble for water
In Arizona, dead fish lie in the dry bed of a reservoir. To the north, a small Utah town could run out of water in months. And in Colorado, a rancher has sold a fifth of her herd as stock ponds stand empty.

The US is firmly committed to imperialist wars and g*e*n*o*c*i*d*es and destroying the earth's climate and biosphere to maintain its domination into the future. This monster will not stop unless stopped. Stopping it is the most important geopolitical project of the 21st century.

A wind farm fragments habitat before the blades ever turn. Once operating, it kills birds and bats—and alters the air, temperature, and moisture across the habitat that remains.
In Illinois, a wind farm left a giant ‘thermal footprint’ by warming the wind in a single direction, and satellites detected it from space

If there is one book you should read on the ecocidal realities underpinning techno-solutionism, then this is probably it. It is thorough, detailed, and urgent, covering every aspect of “green” technologies that make them a disastrous fake “solution” to climate change.
The Zionists and US-Western imperialists who massacre people and plunder and burn down the world organize the FIFA World Cup to distract and drug the global public. How can you expect it to be a fair competition? It is just a tool of mass manipulation and control. Boycott it.

And vast numbers of people in the tropics and subtropics will have to leave their homes altogether to escape unsurvivable conditions of heat, humidity, drought, and famine. And their journeys and destinations will likely be as hostile and unsurvivable as the places they leave.
History suggests that when humans acquire the ability to alter nature at scale, restraint is rarely the outcome. Geoengineering may prove no different.— the consequences could be profound, irreversible, and difficult to predict.

That's the cost to other people. The cost to the environment is really in irreversible damages and mass extinctions. It is foolish to assign a monetary cost to destroying a biosphere for which there is no substitute. Money cannot rebuild the climate nor shredded ecological webs.
Corporations and the empires that host them have amassed so much power that it seems the only way out of the nightmare of our ecocidal and genocidal techno-capitalist civilization is the nightmare of civilizational collapse triggered by climate and biosphere breakdown.
Techno-fascist psyops: Get people hooked on tech we don’t need (LLMs) as a decoy for those that track and control us (military and surveillance AI), then push the narrative that the environmental devastation and poverty these technologies will bring is due to our irresponsibility.
- SSD prices have risen 10x recently because data centers are buying them in huge numbers - there are many powerful open source LLMs that can run locally on personal computers, do not need data centers - the massive data centers being forced upon us are for total surveillance
